THE GRANDSTAND Celebrating Backstreet Cultural Museum’s 10th anniversary, museum director Sylvester Francis, a.k.a. Hawk Mini Camera, brings his life’s work to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Since beginning his collection over 25 years ago, Mr. Francis has accumulated an amazing array of photographs, film footage, and memorabilia of the unique urban cultural traditions that are New Orleans’ Jazz Funeral and Second Line parades. The Backstreet Cultural Museum is also home to dozens of Mardi Gras Indian Suits, several of which will be on hand for up close viewing at the Grandstand during Festival weekends. |
