Default What was "your" song @ your wedding...

.....just a curiosity thing. Something in TnT's wedding thread got me thinking.
And yes, if you had multiple nuptials, you can have multiple songs.
Ours was "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes....still feel warm and fuzzy when I hear it

This is a very long story but we had a three piece bluegrass band play "Fat man in the bathtub" So cool. Married in the backyard of my hubby's grandfather's house in Georgetown DC who insisted we get married by a Catholic Priest. Trouble is I was not Catholic, so we got married by a Jewish Judge that wore his robes and Granddad never suspected a thing. Such a great time

reading the program from right to left should have been a give away!

Talking Wedding Song?

well... I love Billy Idol. and I told my wife I'd marry her on 5 conditions (all of which she blew by, no problem...) but the second to last was "we have to invite Billy Idol to our wedding."

my wife (check the Single at JF thread) is a very cool cat, so she was down with that.

so I sat her down and told her....

"Sweetheart. I love you. With all of my heart. And getting married to you is the point of the day... BUT...

if Idol actually shows. and he sings 'White Wedding' at our wedding... well..

All bets are off.

I will go through with the ceremony, because that's the point of the day. BUT, if he sings "White Wedding"... All bets are off. I'll blow lines of crystal meth off the wedding cake, if that's what Idol wants." (I don't do drugs anymore.

or any less...)

well, Idol didn't show. but our wedding party came out at the reception to Billy Idol's "To Be a Lover" (honestly... play it loud.)

and our wedding song? (that was one of the conditions. Condition #3 "I pick the wedding song we dance to as man & wife." Codicile to #3: It WILL be a Frank Sinatra song.")

Our wedding song was Frank Sinatra's "I Have Dreamed (the Love Song from The King & I) -- It's incredible. give it a listen. on the Reprise disc set. Play this very loud as well.

so powerful, so moving and... (most importantly) BRIEF. I don't care for the LONG indulgent wedding songs. Frankie nailed it....

great thread. I spent hours on our selections, and gave CDs as table gifts. we've been married 5 years and people still have 'em in their car CD players. hit me & you'll get one as we're renewing our vows this year...

"nice day to... start again... come on, it's a... nice day for a... white wedding"

Ours was "Have I Told You Lately" -- the Van Morrison version!

I love this story!!!

I can't say that we really have a wedding song per se. Rather than make all the people in PA come to the Memphis, we decided to get married up there. The organist really wouldn't budge off of classical stuff, but we reached some good compromises. We did have a little reception up there, but we just had background mood music. Most of the folks there had some years on us and weren't big partiers. A few months later we had a blowout reception in Memphis for all of our friends.

I can say that E made up her mind to marry me at Jazzfest in 2001. We had been dating since 1997. She thinks that the moment may have struck her when we listened to the Dixie Cups sing "Chapel of Love". "Iko Iko" would have made a better story.
