Paul Sanchez (former guitarist for Cowboy Mouth) and John Boutte will team up for the opening gig at the Threadhead Patry!

Is Paul no longer a member of Cowboy Mouth?That is correct. I believe the story is that his wife was 'let go' as road manager, and so Paul left too. You can learn more by visiting Paul's MySpace page and Cowboy Mouth's regular site, I think...

No worries, Macgregor. Ask all the questions you wanna. A patry is threadhead for party. Sometimes our typos become entries in the TH dictionary and become part of our TH language. The threadhead patry was started by the 2fors 3 years ago. It's a backyard patry in new orleans. Several threadheads now work with the 2fors to make it happen as it now includes about 200 peeps instead of the original 70 or so. It is sold out but as neen says, there's a waiting list.

Thank you for that most generous lagnaippe, gang. A great show made even greater. I saw them team up at one of the LMF in-stores and it was a highlight, for sho. No FOMS here, I will be there on-time and ready to groove.

Great addition to the Patry lineup!
So I was doing some Googling and found that guitarist Paul Sanchez, formerly of Cowboy Mouth, is not the same person as guitarist Paul Sanchez formerly of the Jim Carroll Band. I had thought that they might be one and the same.
If Jim Carroll doesn't ring a bell, his biggest song would probably be People Who Died and his autobiography was made into the movie The Basketball Diaries.
So in the late 70s Jim Carroll's girlfriend was punker Patti Smith, who happened to co-write a play with Sam Shepard called Cowboy Mouth. Which would have made for some interesting trivia if there was only one Paul Sanchez.

The other sanchez's bandmate's girlfriend, yes. At least it's a fair assumption. Fred LeBlanc's previous band, Dash Rip Rock, did a song called Johnny Ace, which they described as 'loosely based on a Sam Shepard play.' It had the line 'he's a rock-and-roll genius with a cowboy mouth.' For further useless trivia, Johnny Ace I believe is credited to guitarist Bill Davis only, not Fred. BTW, Jenny Says was first recorded by DRR.
And to knot up some more trivia, Paul Sanchez's replacement in CM is Vance DeGeneres, who was in the band The Cold with drummer Chris Luckette. Who was Fred's replacement in Dash Rip Rock.
I'll bet you can get from Paul Sanchez to Kevin Bacon in 6 degrees or less.

Considering that Paul Sanchez is tight friends with Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean's 11/12, Erin Brockovich, etc,), that Cowboy Mouth was actually IN a Soderbergh movie back in 1995 ("Underneath", which never got full national release as was planned).... and the aforementioned Vance/Ellen Degeneres connection..... I would say, yeah, you could probably get Paul Sanchez to Kevin Bacon in two degrees. :D
