It seems like less multiple performances than in past years. Of the names I mentioned, only Marcia has a second set time (and that's against Galactic's only set).

There are lots of us campers with kids. The ages of the young ones will determine alot of the prep needed but all ages will enjoy this one as will the parents. Amy and Jeff you are in for a major treat!!!
We bring our daughter (just turned 14 and will be her third year) and one of her friends and our son who will be 17 and one of his friends. Still tying to get my oldest to come but he likes the parties he throws while we are gone..:D But the two that do come wouldn't miss it for anything. They feel a bit grown up there and safe as well.
Since mine are able to walk, eat and do whatever on their own it is very easy and we have no worries...this is a great place to let your kids learn to fest gently.
They each have their own tent and we sleep in the conversion van so we all have space. The other campground with all the music at campsites is very cool for my djembe player. He just walks around and sits in with some of the folks too.
We tend to set up next to other Threadheads with kids cause the non kid Threadheads have lots of grown up fun. Its works well for us. Neither of us are big drinkers but I wander over for hugs and coffee from time to time. I would prefer more time with friends but the family is very enjoyable too.
The size is manageable for even little ones. If you have to go back to camp you still hear the wonderful music!! Lots of space to set up chairs to set up camp. We take a space near the soundboard as our meeting place at the time agreed on.
It is no different than any other camping experience except the music is to die for, the food wonderful should you not want to do your own, the closed in environment makes you feel better about the wandering they will do.
For us this is the perfect fest to take kids...mine enjoy themselves as do their friends. They would raise all kinds of heck if we tried to leave them behind and why would we? It is such a special fest to share with your family. They also get to meet all the folks I talk about from the board!!
I will post on the CFF forum for ya too Michael.

Missed ya last night at City Park....we had a GREAT turnout, IMO. And it was good to see Paul back on his feet, playing and singing. Highlight might have been John doing "Down in the Treme" - he had the whole place up and dancing.
Maybe you don't want to hear all this....sorry.

Love hearing it. In fact, I called Malo for a report on my way into work this morning. Sounds like a great event. Great to hear about Paul. I have a feeling that "Down in the Treme" is going to be the song of the moment for a while...kind of like "Who Dat" has been. Great for John.
Hope you have a great week-plus hosting and catching up with all your TH friends and others from around the globe, and seeing great music as always. Will miss you at CFF. Been checking fares for B&BBQ for the past few days; still pretty high so I'm hoping they come down.

With the end of Fest on the horizon, and all this (deservedly) good talk about Honey Island Swamp Band, as well as Anders and others, it's time to start getting psyched for the next fest.
And if you're a camper, just imagine how great that night set from Honey Island Swamp Band is gonna be...

Shrimp, oyster meat, catfish, crabmeat and crawfish tail meat is bought and sitting in a USDA inspected and approved cold storage. We are watching closely what will happen in the oyster beds for the raw oysters. The live crawfish should be ok too. They will not be trapped until June 2nd in the flooded rice fields

Smart move Michael. You might want to be prepared to have that printed up and handed out with the admission stuff, or at least posted at the entrances and food booths. Perception being what it is, folks are sure to assume the worst in the absence of contrary information. Maybe also advise the vendors with non-seafood items (e.g., cochon de lait, chicken & sausage jambalaya, fried chicken) to be prepared to increase their supply of those items depending on how this develops between now and then, because many folks might shy away irrespective if the perception is bad enough.
As for raw oysters, they do have some pretty good ones up this way too. Not as reasonably priced as Louisiana oysters I'm sure, but maybe the savings on shipping would offset the difference. Fresher is always better for raw oysters, and folks up here who eat them with any frequency should already be accustomed to paying more for them than you do in Louisiana.

Yeah, I've become a huge fan of these guys in the past year. Loved their first album and was very impressed when I saw them at Best of the Beat in January. I think the second album may be even better. I was already a fan of Chris Mulé when a friend gave me his Unmentionables album a few years ago, and I knew both him and Aaron from Eric Lindell's band. But as much as I like Eric, I think I now like Honey Island even more; I think they bring more to the table as a band.

3 live crawfish suppliers told me today we should be ok for pond crawfish.
the pulled pork guy is increasing by 50% the pork he brings.
The chicken purveyor is on notice we may need more for the fried chicken booth. jerry is bring extra seasoned flour just in case
i will have plenty of jambalaya.
we just added boudin balls today, we will be trapping some boudin shortly
the biggest unknown factor at this point is raw and grilled oysters.
no one knows what will happen.
we are extremely pro-active and will be on top of it.
i am leaving on Weds

Shrimp, oyster meat, catfish, crabmeat and crawfish tail meat is bought and sitting in a USDA inspected and approved cold storage. We are watching closely what will happen in the oyster beds for the raw oysters. The live crawfish should be ok too. They will not be trapped until June 2nd in the flooded rice fields

not this year, tried last year
it's takes a lot of money for a vendor to come up
it's a huge risk in case of u know what
and daddy does not make them any more
maybe i will ask him,
edit
i asked, he would only want to stir the pot himself and it needs constant attention, its just too much to ask him to do it and cook the jambalaya

CFF fans-
Sadly, we are unable to attend this year's CFF, and are holding 3 camping tickets. They are currently for sale at $125 each, but we got them for $100 each in the fall. We will sell them at that price (or $250 for all three).
These tickets are for the awesome Threadhead Village, and entitle you to the complimentary crawfish and jambalaya on Friday night, as well as the "camper's only" shows on Friday (Paul Sanchez & the Rolling Road Show, Honey Island Swamp Band, Terrance Simien) and Saturday Night (Papa Grows Funk).
Here's the CFF website description:
Adult: Advance 3 Day Camping/Admission Ticket
Campers may check-in as early as 10 AM on Friday and may stay until noon on Monday. Admission is included for all performances.
You may buy a camping ticket to attend all performances if you prefer to stay in a hotel.
Camping tickets are required for anyone 14 years or older at the time of the fest. Under 14 is free with parent. Water and electrical Hook-ups are additional.
Please contact me by email (timspam@hammex.com), or you can call me at 540-383-9510. Hate to let 'em go, but my loss could be your gain.

With regrets, we have to announce that Mem Shannon is still in the hospital. His management and I decided that we will have him back when he is feeling better.
BuzzUniverse will play that June 5th slot. Get well soon Mem.

As Julie and Charlie can attest, Buzz Universe is a lot of fun. They incorporate a lot of Latin rhythms into their sound and put on a great show.
I feel horrible for Mem and hope he recovers, but this is a great opportunity for Buzz Universe, and I hope everyone will checkout at least the last 30 minutes of their set (after George finishes on the mainstage).
