My June edition of Offbeat arrived in the mail today. I'm one of those lifetime subscribers; when it shows up, I devour it, read all of the ads, and take in every word.
When I got back from Jazzfest, I invited this girl to come with me to the Creole Tomato/Seafood/Zydeco festival. She has spent some time in New Orleans over the years (we only live two hours away), but was a Bourbon Street type.
So when I saw her tonight in the local bar, I gave her my copy of Offbeat. She'll bring it back some time next week, but I'm hoping she will read some of it and become excited about what we are about to experience.
I have no romantic interest in this girl; I'm just trying to turn on folks to the magic that is New Orleans, one soul at a time.
