I am trying to get my I-pod together for my hotel room. I have so much music but I know I am missing some great one's.
What song is your favorite to "get down" to in Nola?
Who knows, you may be in my hotel room dinking and singing off the balcony, so you better pick your favorite! (Amy has the vino and I will have the booze!) :D

You are a nut baby! I think I may have every rendition of that song. I am a deadhead so I loved the Deads version. I love them ALL. Saw the Dixicups sing at the Big Apple to the Big Easy benefit. I have Mac's as well. Love him so much.

okay, what about something from Cowboy Mouth (our boy Fred will even climb those stage rafters in the threating r@in)...can i suggest "Let it Go" or the ever popular "Take me back to New Orleans".......?
and, to close out the show, the Nevilles, with Aaron singing "Amazing Grace...." (hopefully they will return in the next few years, the Nevilles closing out the jazz fest are for me and New Orleans as red beans and rice on monday.....)
My original Jazzfest song was Feet Can't Fail Me Now. Once I heard that, I knew I was back at Fest. The DDBB does a nice version.

When we drive to NOLA some years, as we cross over the bridge and get our first view of the magical city - I always slip in Professior Longhair. His amazing keyboards and vocals are definitely my soundtrack for NOLA.
Oh yeah - and Rebirth's - Do Watcha Wanna (my personal NOLA mantra!!)

Great post........
Eddie Bo is rarely mentioned on this board,.. and of all the local talent (of which there is unquestionably so very much to consider),.. I do believe that my smile is at it's biggest and finest when I'm watchin' Mr. Eddie Bo get down,... and the man can still get down....
And speakin' of smiles,.. no one seems to enjoy performin' more than that man does... And all those smiles are not reserved solely for live performances,.. the wife made me a great CD of New Orleans tunes some time back,.. and each and every time I listen to it (which is often),.. when "Check Your Bucket" comes on,.. my smile always gets bigger,.. and I do mean each and every single time....
Eddie Bo is an immense pleasure and an absolute treasure,.. and if there are any peeps out there who have yet to experience him on stage,.. then add him to the very top of your must see list......

I've been lurking on this thread and started to think I had a lot of musicians/bands to check out and started to break out in a sweat. ( Only been to 3 Jazzfests and never went to night shows and was always so awe struck I never really "took it all in") Today I went out a bought me a cheat sheet. :o
It's a CD boxset called: (5 CDs)
Doctors, Professors, Kings and Queens
"The Big Ol'Box of New Orleans"
OMG did I miss out on alot of talent. I am even more excited for JF now :D

Without a doubt my must see song will be Jessica by the Allman Brothers. I've seen all their shows at Jazzfest. Unfortunately, the trainwreck with Dickey that eventually led to his ousting. I think that was the fess where steven seagal kept popping up everywhere.
I've always said that when I have a child I would name it Jessica. I just hope he doesn't get his ass kicked too often!

My favorite Joe Krown tunes are 'Uncle Tio' and 'Mudflaps'. The entire Funk Yard CD puts me in a Jazzfest mood (Livin' Large too).

Ironically, Dickey wrote 'Jessica' while on the road, for his newborn daughter.
Looking at last year's setlists, ABB only did 'Jessica' about once every three shows or so. They kicked off their summer tour here and did not play it. I hope you get your wish!
