I read this story a while back and it was very GOOD. Very powerful. This guy is a hero.
I have been quit for 3 Days, 8 hours, 37 minutes and 59 seconds (3 days). I have saved $6.04 by not smoking 40 cigarettes. I have saved 3 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 5/18/2009 12:00 AM

HA good call, that was the only one I could think of as well. Of course, I'm not much of a Sci-Fi fan.

I liked his performance in Enemy of the State and in Bagger Vance (although the movie as a whole sucked).

Totally agree. Very good movie and a great performance by Smith. Notable performances by Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing too, as well as Anthony Michael Hall.

Good movie, although it had to be changed from the play because Will Smith was too homophobic to kiss a guy on screen.

I enjoyed the movie until it got to the gay sex part. Just something I don't need to watch or be involved in. Live and let live, but don't make me watch it. Kinda why I don't concern myself with it politically either. Unlike the Rush crowd who can't seem to get their mind off of it.

I did not forget that Heather Graham was in the movie, nor could I because I have also been keen on her for a long time. In a rare exercise of restraint I actually decided not to mention her because I don't recall her role being notable for much else other than the fact that I like her.
Should I mention the Key Grip now too?

this guy is a true hero and it is great to see him portrayed in a movie..hopefully it portrays the city and its residents in the proper light, including the thugs lol Not sure of the casting of Smith as this guy Keller weighs in 6' 7" and 260 Pounds, nobody in Hollywood that can fit the role better? Not bitchen just sayin

i agree his CC role was good but he was much more the size of Ali...Cassius was 6'3" and ranged from the 180s to 230s so more believable...One thing this kid had going for him was his enourmous presence in the face of outright thugs. Anyway, i am glad to see this kid get his due, he was one of the good guys during the Storm, despite looting Winn Dixie-hey The Can building hadda eat

Actually, I think we need it here more at this point. LA County is admitting to 11.3 Unemployment @ the end of March .... must be closer to 15.
All is on hold for at least three weeks - SAG Strike/Sign Contract ballots just went out this week. This city has been at a complete stand still since the beginning of the year. Steve's 3 month pay cut is about to enter its 6th month.

Oh, that's awesome that you are quitting, too! We can be buddies. :D
You might have a benefits list already but here's a list of things your body has gone through already:
Within ...
20 minutes - Your blood pressure, pulse rate, and the temperature of your hands and feet will all return to normal.
8 hours - Remaining nicotine in your bloodstream will have fallen to 6.25% of normal peak daily levels, a 93.25% reduction.
12 hours - Your blood oxygen level will have increased to normal and carbon monoxide levels will have dropped to normal.
24 hours - Anxieties peak and within two weeks should return to near pre-cessation levels.
48 hours - Damaged nerve endings have started to regrow and your sense of smell and taste are beginning to return to normal. Cessation anger and irritability peaks.
72 hours - Your entire body will test 100% nicotine-free and over 90% of all nicotine metabolites (the chemicals it breaks down into) will now have passed from your body via your urine. Symptoms of chemical withdrawal have peaked in intensity, including restlessness. The number of cue induced crave episodes will peak for the "average" ex-user. Lung bronchial tubes leading to air sacs (alveoli) are beginning to relax in recovering smokers. Breathing is becoming easier and the lungs functional abilities are starting to increase.
5 - 8 days - The "average" ex-smoker will encounter an "average" of three cue induced crave episodes per day. Although we may not be "average" and although serious cessation time distortion can make minutes feel like hours, it is unlikely that any single episode will last longer than 3 minutes. Keep a clock handy and time them.
10 days - The "average ex-user is down to encountering less than two crave episodes per day, each less than 3 minutes.
10 days to 2 weeks - Recovery has likely progressed to the point where your addiction is no longer doing the talking. Blood circulation in our gums and teeth are now similar to that of a non-user.
Good job, jeanvi! :D

Can I play too? I have a box of patches ready to go; I'm just waiting to set the date and pull the trigger. Maybe a new thread is in order???
P.S. I'm really proud of both of you. Those who have never become hooked have no idea how addictive it really is, and quitting can be really difficult. Keep going!!!

I too am REALLY proud of you lovely ladies (and anyone who has quit or is quitting)!!!
Ross is correct - as a non-smoker, I cannot know what that experience is like and how hard it is to quit . . . I used to say that exact thing to my Ex, when he was trying to quit smoking and I wanted to support him, but knew that being a lifelong non-smoker, my support was necessarily limited in depth and effectiveness.
Just know that I send virtual hugs to you and know you can do it!!! Keep it up! :D

I actually quit for 4.5 months a while back, and with the help of the patches, I really didn't find it that difficult. I was such an idiot for starting up again...and all it took was one moment. I was doing amazingly well, but one night I went out to see the Skatalites at a local bar, and that was it. It just seemed SO natural to have cigarettes along with my beer, and I really hadn't "practiced"dealing with those social cues prior to that. Damn.
By the way, if you're looking for some better grammar for your "quit statement", perhaps you might want to say: "I've been tobacco-free for 6 days...." instead of "I've been quit..."! :>)

This website helps you deal with that. They walk you thru three weeks up to your quit date and every day after for as long as you need it. They cover planning ahead, social triggers, the bar scene, drinking and smoking, and lots of others. They also have a board there with 24/7 support and live people posting who are quitting just like you. They always respond to your posts and help you when you need it. They're a great support group and cheering team. :)

You go, girl! That is awesome that you're doing this, too. It takes a long time to mentally prepare yourself to quit. I had to actually get the stars to align before I could mentally wrap my head around quitting again. Things just fell into place this time. When will that ever happen again? Would you be so kind to start a thread regarding your planning, links and such? Seems there are few of us in this boat of wanting to move beyond thinking and knowing we should quit. But again this is the hardest of all my addictions to slay. Won the battle with some, others I struggle with still but so want to do this.
I always was able to quit while pregnant, nursing and such but as with all addictions it is damn hard.
Hoping others will chime it with success stories...lead the way sister.
You have made a difference in my head and I thank you so much for it.
You have inspired me to tackle yet another source of personal freedom.
