There's never been a home team at a Super Bowl ........
There's never been a home team at a Super Bowl ........
And this year's NCAA Championship was about as close as one could get to a home game for Michigan State, and that didn't turn out too well for them...

Could be interesting. Since the NFL seems to set on moving the Super Bowl later & later, it could interfere with Mardi Gras. Certainly wouldn't want to be NOLA PD for that drunken mess.

That's a great point. Fat Tuesday 2013 is February 12th.
The league seems determined to add a game or two to the schedule; they won't start the season any earlier (since that would be bad for the TV networks), so they surely will push the Big Game later into February. You certainly wouldn't want the game on the Sunday before Fat Tuesday. The Sunday after Fat Tuesday may be manageable. Since the date of Mardi Gras is inflexible, the NFL may need to be.
nola.com says SB XLVII is set for Feb 03, 2013.

Unless they decide to extend the season by one week (they're still debating that issue) ..... 2/10/13 Super Bowl. I would guess only the players are against it. NFL & TV aren't turning down the extra revenue.

The closest one was the Niners in 1985, who played (and beat) the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XIX in Stanford Stadium.

1980 the Rams played the Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl. They had moved from the Coliseum to Anaheim that year ...... close but, also, no cigar.
(I've won many a drink on this question!)

"We're just thrilled about what's going on," Saints owner Tom Benson said. "We're getting a new Superdome. Now we're going to get a Super Bowl on top of that. It couldn't be any more exciting than that."
New Orleans last hosted in 2002, when Adam Viniateri's 48-yard field goal as time expired lifted the New England Patriots over the St. Louis Rams.
Benson said he was congratulated by the owners, even those who saw Super Bowl bids for their city get voted down.
"All are great Super Bowl cities," said Rita Benson LeBlanc, a part-owner of the Saints and Tom Benson's granddaughter. "But no city has been through more than New Orleans. ... This is just a true testament to what an entire community can do."

Well since the breakdown is: League office 25.2% AFC Team 17.5% NFC Team 17.5% Other 29 clubs 34.8% (1.2% each) Host team 5%, you would have to scalp a percentage of the other teams' tickets. Say it ain't so, Tab :p

Mr C, you must be high on the exhilaration of the current Yankee winning streak. Benson only said they were getting a new dome. They are getting the superbowl on top of the news that the dome has been contracted for renovations.

lol, no I can't . . . it's a meter. I just press Control F12 and it prints it out automatically. How would you rephrase it anyway? The past tense of quit is quit!

Hmm, dunno PC, that's a tough one -- the only thing that really makes sense is "I quit x days and hours ago" but it's using "quit" more as a status, ie, I have been done, or I have been finished with smoking for x days and hours . . .
(overall, I think it's just fine, we get the idea and I wouldn't stress over it) ;)
