Just got back from the lineup at the high school, looks like about 45 floats this year. I'll have more pics after the parade is over.

Bream, they actually throw hot dogs from the float?

Yes, they have a big-ass grill on the float and throw them in foil liners. With a mustard packet.

Krewe of SPAM
These folks were throwing buttered biscuits with a slice of SPAM !!! TFF they put dollar bills in some of them. Watch before you bite !

Your Mardis Gras looks perfect, BB. I love the hometown feel of the krewe floats. It reminds me of a truck parade I went to somewhere in the NOLA suburbs one year. Down to earth, lots of families and food.

Very much so, neen. Like the truck float parades in NO when I first got started in the early 70s. We ended up with 100 "floats" of one kind or another. Many compliments around work today.

scoop: "Would love to know what the the neighbors were barbecuing."
LOL, I asked the same thing. Answer was "Everything"
Beef brisket, cajun pork roast, boudin, chickens whole, NY strip steak, one trout, one flounder, andouille, pork ribs, hot dogs, and burgers. About 50 folks next door yesterday, large patry :)

Now ya tell me! I'm looking at the first page of pictures (the one with your neighbor and the BBQ and I'm thinking "Damn, he smoked out the neighborhood LAST year.......hasn't he got that smoke thing under control yet?"

Then the small particle of functioning brain in my skull looked at the dates. D'OH!!! It WAS last year!!!! :)

Hope this years is just as much fun and just as sunny!

Great parade, as usual. I took about five pics then set my adult beverage on the ground and then dipped my camera lens into it. Bummer. Lots of pics with boogers in them. I thought I had cleaned it OK.

Lotta pics, many good, I'll sort through them tomorrow. Time for football.

Here, Bobby Trudeau explains his Blanc et Noir Marching Society:

Blanc et Noir is an over-the-top show in many ways. We are imitating black New Orleanians' benevolent societies' funeral customs. By our very nature we are a parody - a good-hearted one - of a distant and historic phenomenon. So you can laugh heartily when we shuffle past you. But you can also groove on the Red and Black Brass Band. This is what it was like when Carnival began in New Orleans. Indeed, the swells rode in carriages. Almost everyone else was on foot. If you want to shuffle with Blanc et Noir for a block or two, not to worry. Jump in and keep the spirit of Highland alive by your spontaneous combustion.

If some of these pics look out of focus it's because my lens had a thin film of Bourbon and Coke on the glass. Not because of unsteady hands.

Robert Trudeau leads Blanc et Noir. He's a great neighbor and friend. They lead off the parade and usually get a big second line going:

The Krewe of Bar-B-Kewe. This dog was meant for me but was intercepted by the weinersnatch in front of me. Don't know quite what to make of the tail end of this float, maybe I just have a twisted mind:

Parade #13 was a success. Wish I had some better pics to share. Maybe I'll get it right next year.
