Sitting in traffic on my way to court, listening to Alex's superb "Where K-Doe Lives" and daydreaming about going straight to the airport to see this...
Have a blast folks! And if anyone can record Alex's set I'd be most happy to reciprocate with some nuggets from my collection.

I'm a rhombus. But I did win my argument this morning--probably because I was less concerned about winning and thinking more about missing THR day at LMF. Enjoy!

Great day for Threadhead Record Artists. Wonderful energy, community. My hope is that the Threadhead Record vision will continue to grow in a steady and healthy way. It is so wonderful to know that the music produced by these artists will NOT be forgotten. May they multiply!!!! And may the Threadhead Records Foundation live long and prosper!!!

I will never forget the feeling in that room -- during John's set, esp that last song. What was it? Sure made my heart swell up and the tears well up.

Monday LMF day may have been one of my favorite days from the whole 12 days! A cool part was talking to several folks in the crowd who had not heard of Threadheads before and explaining it. One guy kept saying he didn't quite get it, I seemed vague, how does he join? Finally he said "oh, so it's just a bunch of folks who give a damn?"

As they were setting up LMF sound before noon I asked if I could get up on the piano. Played 5-8 min boogie till Tom McDermott showed. He clapped and asked what I was playing. I shrugged and said 'BAltimore Blues' he called it Rhumba in C and laughed. Sure was nice of LMF to let me get up and play not knowing me from Adam. Stayed for Tom and Evan C and a little Cyril. Wonder if any T HEads were there early and saw the tall guy with glasses warm up the piano.
Later walked down Bourbon and into the Royal Sonesta to check it out. Popped onto Irvin's Steinway and played for a couple of businessmen in the room. Nice to give the fingers a workout after all the great listening.

Hey everyone,
thanks so much for letting me be a part of this. Playing at THR day was a really nice way to end a very long and active fest season. Sorry we crashed that new tune at the end, wanted to give everyone a sneak preview of something new that will be on the full record. Oh well. Hope you enjoyed the rest of our set and all of the great music Chris and Heather and all the THs worked so hard to put on that day. It was an honor to be on the bill (and label) with such an amazing list of artists.
Chris, you are awesome. Congratulations on everything you and all your crew have achieved with your efforts to do something positive for the music scene here. I've never seen anything quite like it, something so straight from the heart with good intentions that really works. just beautiful.

Even before THR Day at LMF I always made Tuesday my return day. There's something special about spending the last day in town hanging in the alley, listening to great music. Fest is never over for me until the last note sounds from that little stage...

Hey~ you guys missed the brawl out front!!!
I was outside during Paul's set trying to explain THR to some folks when two ladies came out from LMF. I'd seen one of them sitting on the steps inside and she looked a bit... um... not sober. She was trying to take a backpack-type purse off the other women (who was trying to shake her off and get away). Both were accusing the other of trying to steal the purse. It went downhill from there. Some in the crowd tried to separate them and someone suggested that maybe the other purse was inside the store. I ran inside, saw a similar looking bag on the steps where I'd seen the one woman, asked those nearby if it belonged to any of them, scooped it up and ran back outside to get her attention while the rightful owner of the first bag made her getaway.
When it was all done, I went back to the couple from New Jersey I'd been speaking to when it happened and he said, "Now I understands what Threadheads do --- they make things better!!!"
Momentary drama aside, it was a great afternoon and a great way to say some final goodbyes (although we missed a lot of those by hanging near the entrance and leaving before the last song). I second the idea of making it an annual event.

Was too funny at the end of Solomon Burke's set... Anat and a caped crusader were leaping about all over the joint when Mr Burke invited some of the crowd up on stage to dance. Anat and Co about wet 'emselves as they gathered up their belongings and raced to the stage. They didn't get up there tho... young folk, old folk, fat + skinny folk were all getting their groove on.... but NOT Anat!!!!

It's not that she likes to dance that is annoying. I like to dance too.
It's that she has to dance and be the focus of our attention. I guess in her rich, fantasy life - we're all there to see her, not the musical act . . .

I'll take this one....she whipped her hair in my face several times (also whipped my daughter and got her hair caught in Sammy's earring!) and then on one occasion told me that she's got "the greatest ass in the world!!". Sorry, that doesn't fly too well with other chicks...guys maybe but not us gals....
Nuff said.

It's not that she likes to dance that is annoying. I like to dance too.
It's that she has to dance and be the focus of our attention. I guess in her rich, fantasy life - we're all there to see her, not the musical act . . .
I have never had the pleasure of her company, so I will take your word on this. I guess I will have to do some Youtube research.

yep, sure was. Katy mentioned she'd had an episode with the same woman awhile back. I didn't notice a friend.
That woman (biatch) is a local, and she attacked me in the bathroom at the Chart Room last summer. AND I mean, IN the bathroom. I was in the stall!!! She said I was staring/hitting on her boyfriend. As little as I am I managed to push her off of me and ran out of the bathroom and grabbed Ken and Ellen to help me. LOL
She needs to be taken by helicopter to a far away freak place and dropped. Then maybe I can have her boyfriend!!!! HELP ME!

This is it in a nutshell (Anatshell?)
I can ignore attention whores and "look at ME" freaks with no problem, but Anat has this entitlement mentality of not respecting others' space, throwing her hair (or worse) in your face, and not even attempting to get in sync with the music, but instead just making certain that she (as opposed to the music) is the focus of attention........
She is (with Beatle Bob a close second) one of the most repulsive narcissists I have ever seen.

I hate to say this as I love Theresa Andersson so much, but her new album is an atrocity. I mean, it is really, really bad. This is a public service announcement. I hope she gets back to something a little more normal with the next album.

Actually, I agree. I'm not a big fan of this techo one-girl-band stuff.
However, I wandered over to the Gentilly Stage at Fest and caught her last song. It was a cover, and now for the life of me I can't remember what the song was. But the looping harmonies sounded great.

I'm so glad I stayed at Anders and skipped Theresa. My all time fav Theresa sounds are a solo jazz cd she put out in '94 called 'Vibes'. It couldn't be more out of print but it was kiler with some standards, blues,Joni remake. MyCd croaked so I've lost those sounds.
The electricity of Theresa and Anders on stage in the early,mid-90's, was intense and fiery to the soul.
Anders is doing well after his 6 wks of rehab in Jan/Feb. Hope he can maintain. Theresa is lucky she ran away from his junkiness.
Luv em both either way- glad they are keepin' on

Let me clarify. Jeff and Amy found Theresa's new album to be an "atrocity" and "really, really bad", yet it is the most critically acclaimed album of her career. Bon Jovi had some folks writing off Jazzfest, while on that subject, Jeff and Amy were quick to defend BJs musical integrity. Music is open to interpretation, but Murder is not, when yer dead, yer dead.

Ames, in the Offbeat Best of the Beat Awards '09, she was nominated in four categories:
Album of the Year
Female Vocalist
Artist/Band of the Year
Best Rock Album
I like "Hummingbird, Go", but we may not always appreciate everything a favorite artist produces.
For example, as a longtime Joni Mitchell fan, there is some of her stuff that I don't get at all. I guess that's why they are the artists! :)

I found that my musical tastes change and morph all the time. I've also found that even with my favorite favorite musicians I don't like 100% of their stuff.
Auditory memories are strong, like memories of certain smells. All I have to do is hear a few licks of the intro to Sweet Home Alabama and I zap into the past.
Given all those variations...it's a wonder we even agree with ourselves about stuff we like and stuff we don't!

I'm with you Amy. I sampled it when it was released and several times since, and I gave it a long listen in the listening station at LMF this year to see if there was any way I could justify purchasing it. Yep, and I said it really pained me to say it. I STILL love Theresa and hey, I BOUGHT the album, I'm not trying to return it or anything ;) It's just my opinion, I apologized for being negative and certainly didn't insult anyone who disagrees with me.
For the record, Alanis Morisette and Jewel are among my faves and I'm unimpressed by each of their latest efforts as well. It just makes me sad when I don't enjoy my faves' stuff.
The Bon Jovi set at Fest was just okay -- I agreed with Keith Sperra, it covered all the expected bases, but didn't deliver anything exciting or extra or unexpected. I still enjoyed it fine, and it certainly delivered in terms of tix and consequently I'm sure food and beverages sold.
I don't mind at all if people disagree with me on Theresa's new album. In fact, I'm glad some do and hope a lot more do as I simply don't get it, but I love her and hope others will follow down this musical path if that's where she's going. Personally I hope to hear more vocals and fiddle on future efforts, but hey, if not, there's plenty for me to enjoy.
I'm absolutely not going to insult anyone on here who enjoy the album. (Except Alex the music critic, but he's a music critic, he has to expect disagreement!) I don't get it, but as Kitty says, to each their peach! (If you're not into an experimental sound, though, you may want to try to get a listen of this before you spend your $$).
