Hey Kelvia! I grabbed a Fest poster on Saturday, and when I went past the booth on the way out on Sunday, it appeared that they still had some left. I'm pretty sure that you'll be okay, but if you really want one, I would grab it on Thursday or Friday. It's a gorgeous poster, but my guess is that crowds are down a little this year, and I'm assuming people are pulling in their reins in terms of their discretionary spending...

Good question - the whole thing was a blur! I'm going to guess $75 for a numbered one?

FestyDave, I just checked my VISA bill, and they're definitely $75 onsite at the Fest.
This is a bit of a sore spot for me, and I hope you can raise the issue with the powers that be after the Fest. Very simply, it doesn't make a lot of sense that the people who actually go through all of the expense to attend the Fest are somehow "punished" for that. I'm assuming that Art4Now is trying to stimulate advance/mail order sales, but ordering in advance just isn't an option for me and other international visitors. The poster ultimately winds up costing double its face value by the time you factor in shipping, duty, taxes, etc.
Art4Now has done this before - raise prices, drop prices, etc. - but I think a little consistency is in order here. If nothing else, those who attend and support the Fest should be rewarded by being offered the most reasonable price...I'm just sayin'.

wouldn't that be tax?

Tacks? I don't need any tacks - I'm going to frame it! (Just kidding.)
You might be right about that because the charge was $75 flat, so perhaps the price listed on the signs included the tax. Does $69 + tax = $75?

Excerpt from an E-mail from Art4Now:
Pre-Festival Reminders: Our posters cost more at the Festival than they do by mail order shipped out of state, a difference that is quite large on the Signed, ReMarque and C-Marque prints. Waiting until Fest to buy, especially if you're not there early, risks our being sold out of the print you want. Fair warning: This has happened with every prior Michalopoulos poster. Add the 40th anniversary to the mix and you can see why we are urging you to place your order now.
Finally, we're required to bring a minimum number of posters to the Festival's opening weekend. As a result of strong pre-sales, we anticipate cutting off pre-Festival orders any day. These factors, plus the time and hassle saved by not having to wait in line or carry a tube, argue strongly for ordering your posters by mail today.
See you at Fest!
Best regards,
Art4Now, Inc.

Thanks for the clarification, guys. I'm actually much more happy to pay the Louisiana sales tax onsite than to pay the Canadian Goods and Services tax when the thing arrives at my door. Gawd knows Louisiana needs the cash more than we do...

I always buy my fest poster at Casell Gallery at 818 Royal st. They sell the poster for $69 & they wrap & tube it for free. He also has a great selection of art that he has painted. Very low ceilings, but tons of art!

The Fats Domino poster 2006 (first year after the storm) sold out first weekend, I missed out that year by trying to buy at second weekend. I've been pre-ordering from art4now.com ever since. However, I just happened to be checking my posters yesterday and noticed if you buy a numbered poster and you buy it at Fest you get a much lower number than pre-ordering.

This is art4now answer to the numbers game. I know, we still want a lower number including myself. I would like # 2010/12,000 for this year.

I sometimes get a high number even though I place my order early every year. Can I pay extra for a low number?
We'd love to have the extra income, but the print number pulled for an order is random and there is no way to guarantee a low number. It doesn't add to the value of the poster. In the days of stone lithography, a low number ensured that the image was fresh since prints pulled at the end of a run came off a stone that was sometimes worn down. With silk-screen prints, however, every print is of the same quality, individually inspected and curated to ensure uniform excellence. The number is simply your assurance that the edition is limited and that your print is unique and authentic.

Thanks Fred! I guess it's just luck of the draw.
