Pokerchick's 1st Weekend featuring Chicklet

The first thing Chicklet wanted to do when she got to fest was come see me (ha!) and then my mother and she went to eat. Chicklet got the crawfish poboy and yes, she ate the whole thing. My mom got the crawfish sack combo plate (Chicklet ate the crawfish beignets). Then they went to get Chicklet a chocolate cream snowball and watched the Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band at Fais Do-Do. Mom said she liked it; they watched the whole set.

So then it was time for the meetup and she really liked that; lol, had a fun time going around squirting everybody with my spray mister. I decided that I would spend some mommy/daughter time with her and take her to the Kids tent. Delta went with us and while she was getting her Paul Sanchez book signed, we went and got a Chocolate chip cookie dough waffle ice cream cone WITH whipped cream on top (how did this kid not get a tummy ache?). Then we went to the grandstands to catch the cooking demo and got some creole fried chicken wings. Mel ran into us and Delta and she went to try the creole cream cheese while Chicklet and I went to the kids tent.

I think this is where she had the most fun. She went to all the kids area and played in all the little "stages" and then we sat down in the grass and watched Washboard Leo Thomas (lotta fun!) After that (around 5:00), she decided that she was ready to go back to Nana's. But of course, on the way she had to stop and get a mango freeze, which she LOVED. Then we met at Ms. Lena's and I turned her back over to mom and they went home. Guess where they stopped on the way home? Popeye's fried chicken!

I asked Chicklet what her favorite thing at JF was and she said, "Katy." :p
I asked her again Sunday night what her favorite thing was and she said the food. I asked her what her favorite food was and she said the Mango Freeze. Then I asked her what her second favorite thing was and she said, "Meeting all your friends." :D

ahhhh....what an awesome post, pc. smart kid! Katy & mango freezes are two of my favorite fest things, too! Love the pics. Glad chicklet had such a great day!

She left at 5:00. I went to James Taylor with Delta and Gumbo. Then Tab and his lovely wife joined us. :D

Oh, James Taylor was okay. I wanted to see him cuz I've never seen him live before. It was pretty sedate and mellow (I almost fell asleep . . . couldn't stop yawning!) BUT it picked up at the end and was pretty good. My favorite was "Your smiling face". :)

pokie,.. read your post earlier about the h2o camp.... hung there myself for at least parts of five sets this fest.... good people..... my "florida water" spray beat their best all day long.... they had more than a few peeps there who vastly enjoyed the company of the bears.....

The H2O boys are great people! I love that guy. I spend at least one or two sets with them every year at fest. I'll have great pix of them posted when I finally get them all uploaded.

And I STILL didn't get to partake of the bear this year! :(
