I got a call from a non TH friend who said this was on of the most crowded First Fridays he recalls?

It didn't seem too bad to me . . . but I'm usually at Ms. Lena's the first 4 hours and it's hard to tell. It didn't seem as busy there as in past years on the First Friday though (although it was busy, just not AS busy - at least early on).

Away from Aucra it was a piece of cake, mimimal crowd no lines at all for beer and food and also no wait to get to the dunny AKA toilet AKA WC etc.
And even when rehydrating at Luizas post Fest it was very easy to get a beer or whatever.
I think that during Joe Cocker a large percentage of the crowd may have been concentrated at Acura, but there was still lots of space at the once again strangely set out blues tent when Tab was playing.

I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. "no chair area" in in front of Acura stage works out nice. Perfect weather, fun day!
High point for me was Joe Cocker, especially ""With A little Help from My Friends"... stills gives 100% of himself on every song. I saw him 40 years ago at Woodstock, I'm trying to remember if I've seen him since, don't recall having done so.... worth the wait!

Actually, I thought it was one of least crowded first Fridays that I can remember.

Have to agree. It looked more like a Thursday a few years back. It was about what I would want, so it was obviously down some. Very nice to be able to move around at Acura and such.

I didn't think it was very crowded, either. Usually you can't even walk the inside track past the front of the Acura stage and I walked right through there at the end of the Drive by Truckers set.

Seemed sorta normal to small-ish for a Friday to me - very manageable - not much of a wait for beer or food (when I sought same) and there wasn't even much of a line for the ladies room in the Grandstand. I'd be happy with that size crowd every day!

Dude, you used the ladies room?

I'm guessing that it will pick up to near normal levels next weekend. Lots of full boaters having to pick one weekend over the other this year due to the economy will probably choose a four-day weekend over three.

If you were in N.O. this morning, you'd be too tired to harass me! :p

This Sunday night through Tuesday, May 5th.... sorry Fest has taken over all my thoughts. I've worked my schedule so I can listen to OZ on my iPhone all day today. Tomorrow I have to refocus a couple hours in the morning to honor the people I serve here, and by 12PM tomorrow I will surrender to the spirit of Fest....and then I'll be there.

Friday wasn't so crowded, which made for a very pleasant Fest experience.
Sunday was nearly as crowded as any Sundays that I can remember -- couldn't even get anywhere near EW&F at Congo Square.
Saturday was sort of in-between....

I get the feeling that the second Sat or Sun could be record-breaking.

OZ on the iPhone? Been trying to figure out to do this for over a year now. Care to shed some light on this one?

This was the First Friday I missed in a very very long time (15 yrs?).. Seems mixed reports? will be interested to see the numbers.

Also as one who hasn't missed a DMB set at the Fairgrounds, I found Sunday's crowd to be one of the smallest so far (I mean no bigger than any other BNA's in recent history) and a stellar set BTW...

Bring on 2nd Weekend!!!!!!!
