Article in the TP today about how theywere trying to modernise the designs or so on,including introducing Flip Flops to to the range and other things,
beeing a merch guy I thought that the new designs were good but was mystified as to why they didnt have their normal external front top display panels,it made checking out the designs a bit more diffcult, and the display gear to do so was in place, maybe they were just running late and will have it sorted tommorow

Hey Festy Dave?!?! Maybe you could put a word in to the merch crew on behalf of.

Really wish one was able to buy these t-shirts online. I know there are many people who could not attend this year but would still love a souvenir especially from the 40th anniversary.

While we're at it, Dave, how about some larger sizes for your larger attendees? 2X, 3X and 4X would be appreciated by lots of folks....

Most definitely. It looks like this year's shirts are the best I've seen in the last 9 years. Of course this would be the year I can't attend. :( JF could make some money from us out here who would snap some of these up via the web.

I am so confused.
How can '09 be the 40th anniversary when JF started in 1970 (A.D.)?

I know it's the 40th JF, but wasn't this year technically the 39th anniversary? The t-shirts say 40th anniversary, and even the Mayor referred to it as such in the official program, but, when the Foundation made the announcement, it was worded as follows:
Jazz Fest 2009 Talent Announced

December 15, 2008
The 40th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell will feature Wynton Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, the Dave Matthews Band, Sugarland, Tony Bennett, Earth WInd & Fire, Kings of Leon, Wilco, Bonnie Raitt, Allen Toussaint, The O'Jays, Erykah Badu, Joe Cocker, Dr. John, Ben Harper and many more.

Anyway, I love the new designs, but I bought the Congo Square women's tee. It fits great!

YYR. I don't so much mind the term "40th Anniversary", but every time Quint said something like "Forty years and two days ago...", I was thinking that someone needed to give that guy a math lesson.

I agree. I thought this year's designs were better than the past few years but still nothing special.

Yes, - first fest in 1970 and current fest in 2009 = this is the 40th festival.

However, the first fest was held 39 years ago.

Tricky math.

As I admitted, as I failed miserably as a cashier at Ms. Lena's, I'm no good at math.

another example,.. when you celebrate your 30th birthday,.. you have actually ended your 30th year,.. thus you are actually in your 31st year.........

so how old are you???....

do you get to call yourself 30 up until the very last day of your 31st yr.???
