Oooh, yeah it was!! I had missed this tribute the last two times it was presented and I dern well wasn't going to miss again today . . . however, the tradeoff was missing the Nightcrawlers, whom I really love . . . sigh.

If I could have cloned myself - I would've been at both . . . and as I was up on the top bench of the inside bleachers in the jam-packed Gospel Tent, it would not have been easy to slip out to see some Nightcrawlers.

I'm not a TH (yet?), but I still remember my first Nightcrawlers moment in 2005. I was making a beer run for a group of us hanging in the Blues tent. There was a long line on the outside of the track, so I wandered over to the stand inside. While paying for half a case of beers, bam, I was hit by a wall of sound from the J&H stage. It was a JF moment.
The Nightcrawlers really brought it that afternoon. That was my first exposure to Matt Perrine. Needless to say, the beers were warm by the time I made it back to the Blues tent.
I've got 3 of their CD's. Looking forward to a 4th.

Not to give you more post-fest FOMS (I guess it's technically FOHMS--fear of having missed something--at that point) ZK, but I saw the whole Mahalia tribute and still saw several Nightcrawlers tunes, including the awesome shout out (more of a great speech) from Craig Klein.
Two of many highlights from Day 1. But definitely two of the most special.
