Hey it's Kelli from Texas and as my name implies, this is my First Fest. We are coming the 2nd weekend. I have a somewhat unusual question, after the Fest and then after Frenchman Street, will there still be places open to eat that late? If so, any suggestions?

Thanks ~Kelli

Pretty darn easy in New Orleans.

Clover grill 800 block of Bourbon is a good bet.

Kelli, several places in the Quarter serve food all night including Alibi (a great little dive) and Clover Grill---New Orleans is one place that makes it way too easy to stay out way too late..........

Enjoy, Matthew

Thanks Matthew - I just know we are going to eat a TON at the Fest, partake in some "adult beverages" then hit Frenchmen St. Thank goodness there are actual cafe's and cool "dives" to eat instead of fast food.

we get in late Wednesday, I have all my dinners all set for the rest of the week, at least before I get there and everything changes...

Thursday- Redfish Grill
Friday-Brighsten's
Saturday- eat at fest, straight to night shows
Sunday- August

I am just looking for a late night place, nothing fancy, dives welcome Wednesday in the Quarter, looks like Coop's or Clover Grill may be my best best, what about Deja Vu, how is that?

Ive had a couple wild nights in Deja Vu---Seems like I remember that its a favorite of the "adult entertainers" for a drink when they get off work........

The food is actually pretty tasty, at least at 3 am, which is usually around the time I have been there.

I am sure the wife will love it when I say "I was thinking of Coop's but there may be hot strippers at Deja Vu, let's go there!" I usually wait until the 2nd or 3rd day before that kind of audacity kicks in.

I have nothing planned out yet....we get there early next Friday (8am) and I know our first stop is for a Muffaletta (is Central Grocery closed? I've heard yes and no). After that the Fest and then hitting Frenchmen - Sunday before we go to the airport, hitting Acme (cannot resist the bread pudding).

Central Grocery is only open Tuesday through Saturday and from about 10 AM until they run out of bread to make muffalettas. This means if the line is to long and running out the door, don't wait til later, don't come back tomorrow, stay right where you are or you will be sorely disappointed.

Thanks for the info!!! I hope we can make it sometime on Friday, cause you can forget Saturday. My boyfriend swears this is THE BEST place to get a muffaletta.

checkpoint charlie's on the corner of esplanade and decatur (1/2 block from frenchman) has good char-broiled cheese burgers and chicken sandwiches 24 hrs. a day... plus they have a great juke box (when live music is not playing)... you can shoot pool... heck, you even do your laundry!

Checkpoint Charlies is a good call, with a solid menu and stiff drinks, and a bit nicer than Alibi or Deja Vu.........

Deadhead, you still on for SNAFU? Will you be at Fest on thursday? If so, let me know, maybe we can split a cab to Southport (there is also a possibility I will be able to get us a lift out for free, depending on friends' other plans.

Sounds great---I love SNAFU, and now that its at Southport it's even more enjoyable. (Tips is Sacred Ground for sure, but it can get too crowded for shows during Fest)

I will get an e-mail off soon (It's Too Late To Hesitate-Let's Radiate)

I just re-read this thread, and am a wee bit suprised that no one (myself included) ever mentioned Verdi Mart or the St. Charles Tavern; both are excellent 24 hour spots for hungry festers to get a bite before hitting the hay.

As far as the Deja Vu and off-duty strippers, I may have been mistaken---In hindsight, they may have just been enthusiastic freelance amatures.........

I've got a huge appetite but keep busy. Eric's comment was that I "gobble". I guess that means that I stuff myself like a Thanksgiving turkey!

I obligatorily have to mention that if you are Uptown, the late-night place for food is F & M Patio Bar, a few blocks upriver from Tipitina's on Tchoupitoulas.

http://www.fandmpatiobar.com/grill.html

Best. cheese. fries. ever. The quesadillas (on an open-flame grill!) are great, too.

The grill is open until at least 4 am on the weekends... usually more like 5 am. While you are waiting on the food to be ready, you might spot celebrities (many have been seen over the years) and you can dance on the pool tables to their great jukebox (they put plywood on the tables after about 2 am and encourage this behavior).
