View Full Version : Cab Question for after Fest..
quick question.....We usually have 4 traveling to Fest and take a cab. We have never missed a pre-Fest Bloody at Liuzza's so we go early and encounter few problems. Afterwards (we always stay till to the end!) we usually que over to the Playground Taxi area and the wait can be a pain. I have never used the Mystery St stand and by use of your wonderful interactive map I see the stand is 2-3 blocks from Luizza's. Using my splendid and refined method of combining bars, drinking, waiting, and not waiting in lines,...if we have a couple of toddies at Luizza'a after Fest and wait an hour or so, would the line be managable at that point? How tough is it to grab a drink afterwards? ie, is the crowd overwhelming?
Thanks for all your info....."Knowedge is dangerous...unless it is Fest related"

I don't go to the cab stand after a few post fest libations at Liuzzas - just going out to the main road and hailing a cab usually works for me - then again its usually around 9 pm by that point.

Everybody knows. You must drink for 1 hour minimum after any major event to let the traffic subside before attempting to go home. Jazz Fest is no exception.
We use the rule with out exception for all sporting and entertainment events. Even if the game is a blow out and there are only a couple of hundered people left in the stadium. You still must wait at least one hour (while enjoying you beverage of choice) before attempting to leave.
Seriously, Liuzzas is definately the way to after each day of festing. You will not have any problems getting a cab.
We've been using a private cabbie for a few years now (sorry, he's BOOKED!), but we always used to go to the Mystery St stand. If you have a drink or two at Liuzza's on the way, there's usually no line at all.

We love our freelancer too. Funny how you meet these guys. Food and beverages are always available. Sometime the wife comes too. I love it
