The Collector's Print of the Month Campaign: Selections from the Bank of Soul
"Best known for his unique studio portraits of the Mardi Gras Indians, Christopher Porché West has emerged as one of the best of New Orleans’ photographers. His work is marked by warmth, passion, and impact, and by an impeccable care for detail."
— Gary Esolen, New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation
2009 marks award-winning photographer and artist Christopher Porché West’s 30th year of documenting the people, culture and communities of New Orleans. He celebrates this cultural milestone with the launch of the Collector’s Print of the Month Campaign.
The new Campaign website will be unveiled during a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception for 100 special guests on Tuesday, April 28 from 3:00 - 6:00pm at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro.
Spy Boy Demond of the Seminole Mardi Gras Indian tribe will kick of the festivities with three fellow Indians along Frenchmen Street; marking one of the first times that Indians will ”battle” for the title of “prettiest” in this part of the city.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, and purchase a signed, special edition print. The inaugural print "Preservation Hall" features the late tuba player Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen in front of the historic music institution. 5% of the proceeds of event sales will go toward the George Brumat Scholarship Fund at the University of New Orleans.
Space is limited. Please RSVP to rsvp@borderlinemedia.net.
