I had to cancel my first weekend plans, and I didn't want to pay blood money for last minute air tix for last minute plans, so.........

I am going to drive straight through from LA. Leaving Sunday the 26th, and hopefully arriving Monday night.

If anyone wants to share driving and gas, and are not bringing more than a steamer trunk, let me know.

Would love the company and the shared driving.

Perfect for you procrastinators out there....

Hey Now Dave--- I dont know you, but just wanted to say that it seems like a stretch to make your drive in the time frame you mentioned......

If you need, dont be afraid to pull over and get a room for a night; Jazzfest is not going anywhere, and getting there in one piece is the name of the game.

Safe driving, and when you get to Orleans, I got a brew for you---I imagine it will hit the spot about then!!!

See you at Fest, Matthew

Reminds me of this....

... it's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses ...
... hit it ...

Who said 36 hours for only 2000 miles? That's a 26 hour journey at tops. I am leaving Sunday about 7:00 am, and I will see you at the Threadhead party. Ne car, oil's checked, tank is full, Sirius radio, 2 sets of RayBans, 3 packs of American Spirits, cooler on the passenger floorboard, Jake and Elwood BobbleHeads on the dash right next to the Holy Family, GPS works perfectly (who needs it, get on I-10 and head East and if I hit Pontchartrain, I have gone too far!

What more do I need?

Sounds like the good ole days... white crosses, anyone?
I used to drive from Colorado, a mere 1100 miles, but I would always stop to sleep, took me 3 days
Too old for that stuff now, lots o'work... speaking of work, the 4+ days you save by flying, you could easily earn enough for a plane ticket... but I know, timing
Good luck, be safe
Just got a call yesterday in Denver from a guy driving from Seattle to JF... I'm in N'yawlins already now
