Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment have announced the initial lineup for the 2007 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
The sixth annual four-day camping and music festival will be held on June 14-17 on its traditional 700-acre farm site in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville.
A full list of confirmed acts follows, and more will be announced in the coming weeks.
The final Bonnaroo 2007 lineup will total over 100 bands and 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days. Tickets go on sale exclusively through www.bonnaroo.com on Friday, February 23rd at 12:00 PM EST.
This year, Bonnaroo will host reunited rock legends The Police, along with Tool, Widespread Panic and the first announced appearance by the White Stripes after their lengthy break.
The lineup also features Manu Chao, Wilco, Franz Ferdinand, the Decemberists, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, the String Cheese Incident, Regina Spektor, the Flaming Lips and Damien Rice and scores more.
The largest music and camping event in the country, Bonnaroo packs a heck of a lot of entertainment into its four days.
The event offers attendees the amenities and community spirit of a small city, with activities including a comedy club, cinema, silent disco, arcade, Internet cafés, restaurants, yoga classes and hundreds of craft vendors.
Comedy is a hit among Bonnaroo fans, who can check out some seriously funny talent at Yet Another (Comedy) Tent, the festival's on-site comedy club. The 2007 festival offers the best crop of comedians yet. This year's laugh lineup includes crude and hilarious sets by David Cross, Dave Attell and Lewis Black, who is returning to Bonnaroo for the second year in a row.
The Bonnaroo organization is also dedicated to producing a festival that is as environmentally friendly as possible while raising awareness among patrons about green products, technologies and issues.
Bonnaroo continues to take significant steps toward reducing or eliminating its environmental impact, including aggressive recycling programs and the use of post-consumer supplies and bio-diesel generators.
In 2006, the festival diverted 60 percent of its waste from landfills and replaced over 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel with bio-diesel. The festival is aggressively seeking ways to make Bonnaroo 2007 even greener.
Tickets for the 2007 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival go on sale Friday, February 23, 2007 at 12:00 PM EST through www.bonnaroo.com

I like my fests in a place I want to be anyway, like fest in NOLA, Crawfish Fest by NYC so I can meet up with friends there, Vegoose ln Vegas, even High Sierra here in Cali where we can just drive. I'm not as excited about going to a fest in a place I otherwise wouldn't put on my list of places to visit . . . Nothing wrong with TN, just with limited $$ and time it isn't a place on my list.

That line up looks FANTASTIC ! We have friends who have just moved to Nashville and this would be a GREAT reason to visit, hang out and bring them to something cool....since we all met in New Orleans to begin with !

Thanks for the info...

wahooo Gumbo!!! That's wonderful news :)

I wish I could go to Bonnaroo but it's always the same weekend as our Bluesfest here and that's always a SMOKIN' lineup for 4 days. So, no Bonnaroo for me :(

What's that supposed to mean??? Not that Bonnaroo is in the civilized part of the state. Accommodationnnsss are somewhat Woodstockesque.

Saw a little blurb in the paper about Bluesfest and the preliminary lineup looked good -- can't remember right now, but I know Los Lobos was on the list. :)

Wondered when you might chime in! So you're saying Manchester is the patchouli oil capitol of TN during the fest??? ;)

If a festival ever happens in Montana, you can tell Amy that "you don't know about that"- it is the place where men love their sheep and sheep hate their life.......:D

we are thinking of going this year for sure...

not really campers though. wondering if anyone can shed some light onto the hotel/motel situation in the area, as well as the ability to get in and out of the festival to get back and forth to hotel/motel.

thanks!

I've always wanted to go to Bonnaroo, but I'm getting too old to do that much communing with nature and other people at the same time. It really is out in the middle of nowhere. Not far from the interstate, but not much around the area.

I'm hoping that someday we'll be on the map here in the forbidden zone.

Heh heh, sorry, I explained above that with limited time and money, Tennesse just doesn't top my travel list!

There are a few small scale fests in Montana, I sure wouldn't expect people to want to come to them! Also 10,000 Lakes fest in MN near North Dakota, based on location I wouldn't expect anyone to go to that either, but they do get a great line up.

Here's one I just saw today that looks awesome! Didn't know where this is but Bry says somewhere in NY:

Warren Haynes and WDST Present the Third Annual Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain on June 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Gov't Mule will be joined by Umphreys McGee, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, New Orleans Social Club, Ozomatli, North Mississippi All Stars, Tea Leaf Green, New Monsoon and Backyard Tire Fire. Early Bird Tickets will be made available through Mule Ticketing (http://www.muleticketing.musictoday.com/) starting on Wednesday February 21st at 10AM. These early bird tickets are in a limited number. For more info head to www.mountainjam.com (http://www.mountainjam.com/).

Man, when summer is coming I check for so many festivals online. There are TONS that I would love to see. Waka, High Sierra, 10,000 Lakes, Telluride BluesFest, Austin City Limits, Vegoose...there's more that I'm not remembering. I just love the hippy, jam vibe so much. I wish I had the cash to hit more festivals but they're so far from me :(

One that I can also recommend is The Gathering of the Vibes, this year being held in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Held every year as a tribute to Jerry Garcia, this is a great festival with a grateful vibe. Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Bob Weir and Ratdog and Buddy Guy some of this year's performers. 9-12 of August.

AC, it is about an hour out from both Memphis and Chatanooga so as far as non-camping accomodations I couldn't tell ya. From what I hear there is a pretty long line of people arriving each day, so that may be people staying locally elsewhere. There are three or four hotles/motles in the area, I think.

I have only been once. Got there early and did the RV thing with some friends who invited me literally last minute-pulled up in front of my house in the RV and said we are going to Bonnaroo, wanna go?
YYR, Dank Memphis is a cool city.
