I've been picking at the cubes with a highlighter for a while now and Thursday, April 30 is still largely unmarked. So far the only things of particular interest to me are the Tulane Jazz Ensemble (because I'm a 4th yr. student) and the Lionel Ferbos interview at 4:00. If there are any hidden gems on Thursday, I would be happy to hear about them.

The tribute to Snooks should be pretty moving, if you don't mind adding another interview to your list.

A few of my other yellow sets on Thursday are Lil Ed in the Blues Tent, the Meter Men. Anders Osborne is great, though if you're local, he's pretty easy to see around town after fest.

And the day you don't have much scheduled is ideal to stay flexible, wander, follow your ears, and find something new. If you're a Jazz guy, check out Fais Do Do. If you're a Jamband fan, visit Economy Hall. If you're a rocker, head to the Gospel Tent.

Let's see. You got Anders Osborne, Paulin Brothers Brass Band, Corey Ledet, the subdudes, and Rosie Ledet. Plus the best cajun band in the land, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys and a living legend, Solomon Burke. Thursday rocks. It's just not jam packed with luminaries like Tony Bennett or Bon Jovi.

Mark Braud and the New Orleans Jazz Giants, Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove (same time though). Sunpie is always a fun time too!

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, New Birth Brass Band, then it gets crazy with Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove, Sunpie Barnes and Steve Riley competing for my ear.

Lots of good stuff Thursday. You will probably be at the right place Mr. B.

Lil Freddie KING is one of my favorites worth it just to see him hang his leg over that guitar and play.
and one of the old school buesmen that you won;t see too often.
and def the Snooks tribute interview.
Kirk and Alex McMurray solid possibles and thinking abot checking out Emmy Lou as I have never seen her.
If you like old school R&B Solomon Burke is a treat!

Looking forward to Solomon Burke as I have never seen him.
Lil Ed is fun, but I get to see him here lots.
And I haven't seen Anders in awhile. Will probly go for Kirk Joseph too.

I agree I'm loving Thursday. The crowd should be down and Andres Osborne, the Meter Men, Ben Harper, New Birth Brass Band, Steve Riley, Solomon Burke and Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove are already highlighted for me.

I've seen Emmylou Harris numerous times but if you have never seen her, she is one of those that everyone should see once.

personally, i dont care much for ben harper or emmylou, and the last few times i have seen solomon burke it has been boring-i seem to see shows where he picks out members from his extended family to sing on and on while the band plays some standard looking bored to tears. i hate to say it, but nicholas payton has always been a disappointment to me at the fest-he gets too cool for school for me. this puts me at marva wright to close the day. one could do much worse. and of course, i expect the sets i choose to miss will be just fabulous despite my mean comments.
