This new artist Melody Gardot is amazing. I really haven’t got into any of the new jazz artist lately but she definitely can do something’s these others can’t. Her single is so different and I just recently saw the video it was outstanding. She has this early 1900 feel.
Anybody else on her yet?
What do you guys think?

I agree. Definitely spam. The original poster can't get into any of the "new" jazz artists, but likes this because it's more like 1900. First, there was no jazz in 1900. Second, that's over a hundred years ago. Ya can't find *anything* that you like in a whole century? Third, she's really more of a pop singer reaching back. No different than Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Barry Manifold, Carly Simon, etc., doing their "standards" recordings, when they wouldn't otherwise know anything about these songs. It's the record companies at work, trying to shape what we like. It'll be much better when these behemoths collapse under their own weight.
Not that this artist is necessarily on the record company radar, but it's the same type of "classic jazz" hype. Post clearly about what it really is; none of this "I happened across this great artist" crap.

New Orleans Dixieland Jazz is widely considered to be dating from the early 1910s.

And that's good that you like it. The music scene would be nowhere without strong opinions. However, if she is professional at all, she should consider promoting herself truthfully rather than have shills come here to pretend that they're new fans that just discovered the music. I think she sounds nothing like what the poster says her influences are, and I suspect we won't be hearing much from her.

Yep, although, it appears to be live people who come onto the board to promo CD's. Either that or the spambots are getting really sophisticated.
