I cannot believe how much information I've been able to gather, on so many subjects, in such little time, with such great humor and compassion, from so many (soon to not be) strangers than I have on this forum. It's almost like instantaneous knowledge. Put up a question, and by the time I post it, there's already a reply, followed by another. and another.

I've been coming to JF for the last 5 years (plus one other in the 90's). I remember the first year - I was very intimidated by the scope of the fest. The crowds were enormous, the transportation scary (always afraid I'd end up in another part of town), the afterhours entertainment seemingly unwieldy. Had I known about this forum, I would have had a MUCH easier, much less intimidating time of it all. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE JF and all my naive experiences, but I just wish all newbies would know about the forum before they head over to NOLA.

Now I just gotta figger out a way to meet y'all!

Thank you, EVERYONE, who contributes to this site! It continues to be an education as to getting the best out of the best music festival in the world!

I'll be there, but where is Ms. Lena's? And do we get deals on "spillage"?

The beer booth will have Zulu Diamond Cutters Sign and probably a Threadhead Banner to help you id it. Also you can go to threadheads.org which will have more information and maps, etc. And while your there join in the raffle, it is a real deal to help out Children in the NOLA area and the Musicians Clinic.

threadheads.org has a map that shows the location of Zulu Diamond Cutters (Ms. Lena runs the booth on behalf of the ZDC organization)

Welcome, welcome, completejohn. Glad to know you're getting info and having a good time. Definitely print out the map and food list from threadheads. org - very handy to have and it lays everything out very well.

Hope to meet you at fest!

For deals on spillage, just volunteer and sell beverages at said booth. See the 3rd thread from the top - Ms Lena's to sign up. Pretty sure there are some afternoon shifts still in need of manpower.

And welcome to the bored of the spinning threadhead nation!

:D :D Welcome John and have a friggin BLAST at fest this year! Come see us at Ms. Lena's ( the grassy area behind the beer tent across from the Jazz and Heritage Stage) at 1:45. There will be a bunch of us there each day during fest. Easiest way to meet Threadheads and there are MANY that have never met before so no worries.
Great post!!

And don't worry that some of us already know each other....just walk up and introduce yourself to anyone and ask them to point out some of the faces with the names and then go on from there okay?

OK, after reading all these posts, I already seem to "know" some of you. So if I can find the CORRECT beer tent (I generally hit most of them each day) I'll be looking for y'all at 1:45.

One question: is at am or pm?

Well I GUESS I can be awake by 1:45 pm. It all depends on how well my 1:45 AM meet-up goes (on the sidewalk at the Southport subdudes gig or the HOB Jon Cleary gig or ...).

I'm even regretting having a ticket for a flight back to Albu-turkey at 3:30 pm on Monday. That seems quite early, especially after the Tab & Sonny show on Sunday night. But that's why God invented Red Bull (& Jaeger!).

The correct beer tent is the Zulu Diamond Cutter's tent ...directly across from the Jazz and Heritage stage....look for the yellow shirts and the cold, cold beer! See you there ;) :D

helpful hint: bring a small, soft sided cooler that doesnt leek. you can purchase several beverages at once, tip and get some ice to throw in too.
i bring ice from the hotel in ziplock bags (when the store on sauvage was still open we'd just buy a bag of ice). you can also use this cooler for bringing food back to your room for the fest.

note: must be soft sided to bring into fest, they dont really police the size, but large ones are heavy to carry when full, and if not full are not very efficient at keeping things cool.
