Malo(gator) and I ran it last year. Easy run through the French Quarter on Sunday morning. Energized me for the rest of the day and night, and was a nice pick-me-up in the middle of my Fest trip. Felt a little less decadent for everything else I did.

I just registered for it again for this year. Anyone else?

you aint right in the head.

True, but not because of this. This is one of the more sane decisions I've made.

Yep, Frequinox is the likely sacrifice. I did RnB the night beforehand last year and turned in sometime around 1:00 or 2:00, which was fine, except that I missed New Mastersounds late night that night. I thought I'd have another shot to see them again because they were playing after Dragon Smoke, but I ran out of gas and missed them then too, as I had been going hard from noon on at the patry and then at Dragon Smoke, which together amounted to some 14+ hours straight of live music on my feet. That was a bummer.

Missing Frequinox would be a bit of a bummer for me too, but not as much as missing New Mastersounds was because I've seen variations on that lineup a number of times now and will again. That said, I'll still make it a game time call, and if the spirit moves me to go for Frequinox, the worst case scenario is that I'm out the $20 registration fee for the race. I've made lots of worse and more costly decisions. I'm doing RnB beforehand this year again, so I'll see how I feel when we leave there.

As for the heat and humidity, I hear ya--I hate humidity as much as anyone can. But the race goes off at 8:30 and you're done by 9:00, so it's not that bad yet. In fact, last year it was downright pleasant.

And thank you for mentioning that there is a "fun walk" option.

I also should have added that it is a benefit for Children's Hospital, so if it turns out that someone registers and doesn't participate, at least you know the money is going to a good cause.

I say we start our own race - The Threadhead 5 Miler on the Racetrack.

Here are some of my initial thoughts:

After each of the 1st 4 laps (1 mile per lap) you drink a beer and then on the last lap you drink a beer and eat a softshell crab po' boy! If you throw up, you are disqualified. Entry fee is $5 and cost of beers and po'boy. The entry fees go to the winner. Could be a cool t-shirt involved too. Thoughts?? Who's in?

I used to say that, now I'm not even sure that someone chasing me would make me run. I think it would be easier to just let them catch me.

Probably for me and my husband. We usually get up and run each morning before fest anyway. Just signed up for the Marathon Corps Marathon, so I definitely need to get in the run time.

Wish we'd be there, I would love to run a race in the FQ. We run most mornings before fest too, so if any second weekenders want to meet up we'd love to have you join us. It cures a hangover 100% every time, I swear.

Lostcajun and I always SAY we're gonna do this one but we never have! And this year he won't be in till that night so he's out. I might do it but I need to work at Ms. Lena's that morning at ten.

Voodoohead's run though....THAT one is perfect!
