I usually grab one of those $13 blue buses to get from the airport to my downtown hotel, but noticed that there was a $1.60 bus that goes from the airport to downtown. Seems like a no-brainer, except that it either might take "forever" or is too hard to find or it's a pain with luggage or ???
Have you tried this transportation method? Any luck?

I do it most every year.It takes a bit longer but goes through cool neighborhoods you rarely see otherwise.
I haven't done it myself, but discuss it on my airport transport page:
http://jazzfest.swagland.com/airport.html
1. Check the timetables - weekends and evenings, the bus stops short of downtown.
2. The buses that do go downtown drop at Tulane & Loyola. Depending on your luggage and on where you are staying, getting from there to your hotel may be a hassle.
Besides that, if you're not in a rush and want to save some money, go for it.

Swag, are the prices on your website current? IE- still $28 for 1-2 ppl via cab to the quarter from the airport?
Thanks in advance.

Unless you have a huge amount of luggage, no problem. I've done it many times; you'll get to ride with actual New Orleans residents, & save mucho $$$

Yes (plus the fuel surcharge $1 or $2, plus tip)

I will also make a note that these shared ride shuttles can only drop you off at a hotel. I found this out the hard way a few years ago when, after going through the entire FQ dropping people off the shuttle driver told me that he was unable to drop me off at my friends house at N. Robertson and Esplanade (just outside the FQ). Since I had a sheeotload of luggage and could really walk I ended up having to get out at a hotel and then take a cab to my final destination. All in all it took friggin' forever and I didn't really come out saving any cash over a cab in the first place.

Yes, I did one year and enjoyed the experience. The last stop, I believe, is Tulane and Loyola. It was just a few blocks from hotel I was staying at, which was the Hyatt.
I forget how long it took, maybe an hour or so.Check all of above with local RTA.

When are you arriving and staying for how long. It would be a gas to share a ride.

I'm doing FQF for sure, Apr 16-21, staying in the Marigny; trying to work 1st weekend of JF in there too (Apr 21-27), still (under-)bidding on hotels. ;)
But it looks from your sig. line that you're only going 2nd weekend?

If this works out this will be my longest stay in NOLA. I fear for my liver, lungs, cholesterol, finances, etc.

Those can all be fixed by returning home and abstaining, not smoking, eating well and working again. Go for it if you can..I know you will too. First weekend looks great.
