I understand that they are building a new Rock and Bowl. Does anyone know if they've moved, or are GONNA move before Jazz Fest????

I just called them for an update. They are hoping to be in the new location during JF. I tried to get her to give me a number, 75%/90% chance but she said there are to many issues out of their control. She told me to call back next week for an update.

i would think they will stay at the old location thru jazzfest for many reasons.
so people can find them, so people can come say goodbye to the stairs, and packed is not the time to be working out the kinks in a new location.
i dont think they have the staff to run both during jazzfest.

They told me today that only one location will be open. They are hoping to be in the new location during JF. Reading between what she said today, my guess is the new location will not be ready. She did tell me to call back next week for an update.

Just down Carrolton. If you google ye ole college inn, John Blancher's really good restaurant, it is right next door.

don't forget there are all those fun things to get through like inspections - and the city is NEVER fast with those......
They tend to go faster if you slip them a couple Ben Franklins.

Is that right! Are they gonna still have the bowling lanes? Ye Ole Collage Inn is a great little resturaunt. Been going there since Iwas a kid. It used to be next door to where the new one stands now. Is that where the new R&B will be where the original Ye Ole was?

Not exactly... it's on Earhardt (sp?) directly behind where the original Yee Ole was.. there was a strip mall facing Earhardt that had at one end a HELM Paint store.. John purchased that building and is making it into Rock & Bowl.. complete with brand new bowling alleys.

Was at RnB tonight for Geno and they've removed all of the pictures from the walls in the stairwell and the main Rock n'Bowl wall art that was behind the main stage . . .
It's a bit sad and happy at the same time.

John Blanchard owner of R&B told him the new R&B will be open this wednesday..
Jimmy said the new place is looking amazing....

If you are speaking of the original R and B...sounds like a great Patry venue if the backyard ever becomes unavailable or the crew wants to grow it.

Question for you experts...I just went to the R-n-B website to purchase tix for 2nd saturday and it tells me tix not available through ticket web. Does that mean they're sold out, or should I call them and see if I can pick some up that way? Kicking myself for waiting!

one says unavailable and the one below it for the SAME date is available.
just need to look again.
i have a question re: HOB tickets. I just looked to see about New Mastersounds late night tickets. Ticket price is $25 plus 9.55 worth of fees. Is there anyway around this (getting a friend to pick them up at the HOB box office or will that not help lower the price)? For the life of me I can't remember this and I should considering how long I've been doing this. ;)

ahhh....thanks, CG. Just got my tix. I did notice the difference is that the one that says the tix are unavailable has a price of $20. per tix. The one directly below it is $25 each. Guess they need help paying for that new space ;) Glad you noticed it, I totally missed it. THANKS!

Yup, just bare blue walls in the stairwell on Thursday night. But the place was packed - I think folks are starting to get the word that the old place is not gonna be around much longer. It was great to be there for one more floor-bouncin' hot-n-sweaty zydeco night though....
I was really hoping to go the old Rock n Bowl, one last time. I hate that they can't wait until after the fest to let those of us from out of town enjoy one last show. Wish them luck, but in my experience change like this is never the same. Hope they bring some of the funk from the old place with them.
We talked about that - how a lot of out-of-towners would probably love to go to one more show at the old place - I guess John B. has to balance that against his desire to show off the new place, to try to start convincing people that it will be true to the spirit and soul of the original....
I do like the idea of a Jazz Funeral at the old location and a second line to the new one....

since we're "committed" for the 1st Sunday tab/sonny show, I guess I won't have any excuse now for putting off (again!) getting a bite at Ye Old-ee College-ee Inn. Hope it's all that & a bag of Zapp's - but what do my 1st-fest friends know? it'll just be something new to them, same way the old up'n'down place was to us, which got adjusted to just up - which we got used to... it'll all work out - but the new slightly-more-sober me remembers details a LOT better now! ;)

in the past, they pre-sold some tickets but not all. they should have them at the door.
