Any news on setting up volunteers for the Zulu Diamondcutter's beer tent? I didn't get to do it last time I was at fest, and I'm very much looking forward to working a shift this year.

Hmm, just realized that Ms. Lena is probably just a LITTLE bit busy right now with Mardis Gras parade next week. Hopefully after that dies down . . .

She will be on the Diamondcutter's float #16, as will my friend, Linda who is toward the front, lower tier, driver's side. Ms. Lena is usually on the top tier.

What I've done in the past is use poster board cut in half lenghth-wise to make 2 signs. I then cut each piece in half and taped back together so that each "folds" up and fits in my suitcase. You can vary the size by adding more sections or using bigger pieces as long as it'll fit in your suitcase when "folded" down.
You just need to be sure to make 'em big enough and bold enough to be read at a distance 'cause you have to start trying to get her attention before the float gets to you. :D

I'm waiting to hear from her. I have everything ready to post but need to verify some things before I do that. I may go ahead and put up the "signup sheet" but I don't have the details verified about volunteer tickets and parking passes, etc.
I'll let you guys know when it becomes active.

Great, thanks CBH!
If I remember from last year's posts, the shifts are 4 hours, but you can split them with someone and do 2 hours each. Will that be the same this year, do you think? I'd love to do 2 hours, not sure I could handle 4 though.

Yeah, I'm sure that will still be ok. You can just sign up for a 4 hour shift and take care of making the sharing arrangements yourself. We don't take "attendance" or anything. We just need to know how many bodies will be present at any given time.

I did two days of four-hour shifts each last year and they went very quickly (not to mention were quite fun, actually) - I did them at the beginning of the day, so I didn't suffer from too severe a case of FOMS.
I'll be there again this year both weekends to help ZDC!! :D
