I'm heading down to NO for Mardi Gras and am buying tickets at the superdome. I'd be willing to pick up tickets for NY folks at cost, with the following conditions:

1) I am horrible with the mail, so I'll pick up your tickets, but you'll either have to get them from me in person (how about at a gig some night in NY) or make it ridiculously easy so even I can't screw it up.
2) I can't lay out tons of cash, so some of you will have to get me some cash before I fly out on Saturday.

I'll pass the word to some NYC peeps too Jordan. When are you heading down for MG?

Landing on Sat afternoon and flying out on Wed. Any advice on what I MUST do? We've never done Mardi Gras before.

Thanks for thinkin of us threads that want to buy directly w/out added costs. I will be buying my tix the ticketbastard way..for various reasons...but a big Thank you anyway...you get the "THREADHEAD COMMUNITY SPRIIT AWARD FOR TODAY"!!

Are you the Jordan that brings his small children to fest? Your lil girl is prolly a big girl now...but I remember you and thought you were so adventurous to bring them to JF. NOW i'm going to bring my youngin' to JF (just for a day, just for ONE day...don't think i could handle more...haha)

anyway...carry on!!!

The tickets are at the new orleans Arena not at the Superdome

So I don't see much advantage to ordering advance tix from them. If you buy at the gate, Jazzfest gets all the revenue, right? Don't know if Ticketb*#*%#*%! gives a kickback to Jazzfest from the $7 + processing fees, but if so probably not very much. $37 at Arena does save you $5 +, if you are able to do that. Maximum of $30/ person for the hard core everydayers. Still not a major amount compared to the travel and other costs of Festing.

Here's a solid cure for Ticketmasteritis: just don't buy from them. Think of the wait in line to get gate tickets as a fun part of the ritual, and then also buy the next day(s) tix so you won't have to wait in line then.

Jordan, did you check out the Mardi Gras Role Call thread as well as the Lundi Gras thread?
Check those out. We have a bunch of stuff going on. Pokerchick is bringing her chicklet down for her first mardi gras too and will be at Endymion parade Sat. and Bacchus on Sunday. Are you bringing the kids? Lundi Gras festival is all day Monday and is a wonderful fest. Let me know what you think after you check out the threads okay?

MZJoey,
Yes my kids Nathaniel (6) and Nola (4) come with us to fest every year. Let me know if you want kids tips. They will be back this year, but are not joining us at Mardi Gras.

Thank you for the offer, Jordan. I opted for a brass pass this year.
OZ has gotten me thru many a work day.

Have a safe journey and have a great time "Mardi Grasing" in N'awlins!
