The weather guy says that he will try to keep it pointed at the Fair Grounds whenever he is not using it for something else..
Some other times you might see other shots of the city..
but i will try to keep an updated shot of the Fair Grounds up as much as possible for the next few weeks.

I assume the cameras are on the roof of the Esplanade at City Park apts, so I tried bringing up Google maps and triangulating, but I think at least one house there has a new roof since the satellite pic was taken, I can't find that white roof house...

Gotta be Congo. There isn't enough room for it to be more toward the camera. And there's the walk to the track that sorta divides Acura back field & Congo Back field.

There's also trailers in the Acura field, lower right. I think they're just staging them there.

how long can grass grow in the shade? no wonder they get so swampy/muddy when it r@!ns.

but i know its a big undertaking to put up all those large tents, and they cant wait too long or the weather gods might not be kind to them.
maybe we can run grow lamps to keep the grass healthy.

Yep, that's what I thought, too. There's no other perspective that fits what we're looking at. The only big stage that's on the far left like that IS Congo. When you face Acura, it's on the far right. Also, when you face Gentilly, it is also on the far right so it can't be either one of those. The only other big stage that is to the left is CONGO!

but i will try to keep an updated shot of the Fair Grounds up as much as possible for the next few weeks.

I sure that we will get some shots during fest..

I plan to be at fest the whole time that it is open.. so I don't get to run to the TV Station and point the camera around, zoom in, and get pictures..
But maybe we will get some nice wide shots anyway.

What I would really LOVE to do.. would be to get one of those gigapan cameras that take the super high resolution panorama pictures and take it up to the roof during fest.. those would be SUPER pictures...
I'm almost willing to shell out the $$$ to get the camera.. but again.. I plan to be festing the whole time.. not sitting on a roof taking pictures...

If anyone has a gigapan setup and wants to get access to that roof.. I might be able to help.

to take in Stevie Wonder from outside the fence.. it was GREAT.. could hear as well as anyone inside.. and if you tried hard. you could see the stage.

If they moved the VIP bleachers to this spot.. it is possibly to block the view from outside the fence from Verna Ct.

Shame... the Leda/Verna stage was a lot of fun last year.

oooh, the tops of the white tents are glistening in the sunshine. and the mardi gras colored beverage tents are going up!!!!

i noticed there is now a 'roof' over the bleachers at acura. and i dont remember there being a beer tent quite where the one is to the bottom left of the bleachers. i know there were 2 tents on the far track side, one near the stage/speakers bridges and another one not as far back as this one appears. could just be the angle of the picture throwing me off, or possibly moved due to the bleachers.

also, i dont see the big chief section being built on the infield (left side of stage) for acura. so i'm guessing/hoping the bleachers with the roof is the big chief area relocated? that would likely improve the congestion through the inside walk path.
