Is anyone else noticing much higher air fare to New Orleans than last year? I know that the airlines have reduced the number of flights overall but the current cost for me to book a flight to New Orleans for JF is more than double what I paid last year.

Yes we are deffinitely paying more this year. One reason for us is we desided to go nonstop this year because the past 2 years we always had a problem making our connections(last year Delta,05 Air Tran) Going Jet Blue this year $300 each RT. From NY LGA

I just checked my numbers -- I am paying pretty much the same this year as last. Canadian dollar is not quite as strong, so I think that explains what little difference there is.

Of course, it may have helped that I booked in December. ;)

I noticed AA finally wisened up. Southwest has been doing this for years, but first I've seen it on AA: The lowest fares weren't available for Fest weekends on flights DFW-MSY, even though they were showing near-empty seatmaps. One week before or after, no problem.

Prices are definitely up this year, but I cashed in frequent flyer miles. Costing me $10.

It seems those in larger markets that serve as hubs did well...I booked a rt on Continental from Newark for almost $200 less than last year (paid about $220.0 rt). I have a friend flying out of Chicago-O'Hare on either American or United and booked for less than $100 roundtrip back in November.

Agree that Jet Blue definitely appears to be one of the airlines who has an understanding of demand. They are much higher than in previous years for fest and other "event" periods.

Living in Atlanta definitely has its advantages. I can always find a direct flight to almost anywhere.

I ordered my tix on Air Tran early enough to get their sale price of $79 each way. It was so cheap, I didn't bother trading in Delta Frequent Flyer miles for a ticket on Delta.

Beside, I love Air-Tran's upgrade policy. You show up to check in. You ask if there are seats in 1st class/business class. If there are, you hand 'em $35 and you are upgraded.
