So yesterday morning I was up around 4am, terrible storms, etc.

I was online seeing about rooms for JF, trying to find a cheap one for one night (nearly impossible as we all know) b/c we can't really do it this year. So I pull up a room for $99 at a nice hotel for Sat night of 1st weekend, pretty excited about that. One night and the following day would be great. Not the best but still fun.

So I pull the trigger and immediately realize, I reserved a room for the last weekend in May. :( :p I'm never gone to 1st weekend so I'm always thinking 5 (may) to type into the reservation line. DOH!

I pout for ten minutes, apologize to the wife (who wasn't crushed by any means) and then realize who cares? I'll be in New Orleans, a cheap room, booked a reservation at August and will find a great band to see for cheap.

And that tells you everything you need to know about that City, GREATNESS!

I'm not even upset one bit....well I we did want to see Dap Kings/Mavis but it'll work out.

I emailed orbitz about working something out but don't expect anything. It was my fault so all good.

Aw, so sorry, mcg. But yyr, it's new orleans! IF you're talking 5/22 weekend, you'll have bayou boogaloo. If it's the next weekend, I'm sure some little fest will appear on the radar. If not, plenty to see and do in NOLA!

yea 5/30

Can't wait to see who's playing! :( :p What are you going to do?

I told my wife I probably saved us about $400. She at least pretended like I was right.

Just in case, I did the same thing, booked a trip on orbitz I was taking in January, but booked it in December. I called them, they said no problem, cancelled the trip & I rebooked for January.

It's been a few years since we went to New Orleans without a festival going on....but each time we are there we are reminded how much we enjoy the city, music, people, culture and food without any other inducements. So I am a little jealous of your mistakes.

As it happens, another Threadhead <name withheld to protect the careless> recently emailed me about a similar mistake: he got so excited about the Hilton deal on Priceline, he rushed and bid for the last weekend of March instead of the last weekend of April. And we all know how unchangeable Priceline is.

But, he emailed them with his plight, indicated that he wanted to rebid for the corrent nights, and they let him out of the mistake bid, minus a small change fee.

So you never know...

A day in New Orleans is almost always better than a day at the office :)

Hee hee, yep, that was Jeff, he put in March instead of April on a room for his sisters (yikes!) and Priceline ended up just charging him $25 to change it.

We couldn't have made any use out of that room, but it sounds like if you end up making another trip you won't be too upset :)

I think the sooner after the mistake that you contact them, the better. Being willing to re-bid again correctly is probably key. And the more convincing you can be that it was a mistake, the better - saying you meant to bid 2* Orlando Airport in June, but accidentally bid 4* French Quarter in April may not fly...

Yep, same dates, same place, just off by a month, is an easy mistake to make. They do want you to rebook at the intended time.

First of all, I may be a horrible person for this.

So I was at a funeral for one of my wife's relatives this past weekend. Her cousin, our age, loves music, etc, lives in NYC was there also attending the funeral. I've heard of her plenty but we've never met. She knows I love music and we were making small-talk just standing around. She asks me about JFest and say, we just can't make it this year and she follows up with, well I just moved back to NO near Tulane and have an apartment out back with nobody in it, you guys can use it, no big deal.

 :D

So without trying to sound to excited (I am at a funeral after all), I ask her if we can email her about this next week and she says no need, it's all good.

YAY!

RIP.

I'm going to hell (but at least I'm enjoying the ride!)//

I'm sorry about the circumstances, but I'm happy you'll be able to make it, Mac. Maybe we can finally meet this year (I don't think we've run into each other before, have we?)

No, I haven't met anyone from the board unfortunately. When will the meeting on Sat, 5/2 take place? We will be there on 5/2 for certain.

Also, on 5/2, I have not seen almost any of the bands on this day (LOL well except Bon Jovi in '87, can't believe I just admitted that :p :( ). What will you guys be seeing on 5/2?

Yup, Hell for sure.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when someone would die, and everyone's first question was, what was their apartment rent?

The meet-up at Ms. Lena's will be at 1:45 or so. If you get to Fest early enough, you can always catch a bunch of T-heads at Liuzza's prior to 11 AM.

For me, the second Saturday will most assuredly mean the Midnight Disturbers. The rest of the day is up in the air.

I didn't ask her what her rent was but did ask her how nice the 'hood was she lived in and immediately realized that's a stupid question. LOL

"well my street is nice but a couple over..." You know the rest...

As long as the wife isn't upset then all is well. I wouldn't go as far as calling yourself 'stupid' because then I would have to do the same and I don't need any encouragment. I booked the wrong month and contacted the similar type of booking establishment and they gave me a 'credit' which I used to rebook the original date, but sometimes things happen in strange ways for a reason and keeping the original booking might pan out to be an experience of a lifetime!
