I just saw the line up and it is smokin'. PANIC is playing both nights. Yessss. :D
Last year was the first year they put it on and did a fantastic job.
So if you plan on being in Denver in July, I highly recommend attending

Papa, did you ever do the Lodo Festival?
I went two years in a row in (2003,2004?) and saw some amazing stuff, all for only 20 bucks or so......
Neville Brothers, Los Lobos, subdudes, funky Meters, Robert Randolph, Bernie Worrell, all in the heart of downtown Denver. It is a shame that ATT is not putting it on any more!!!

Fo Sure, Fred. Fo Sure. If Panic plays in the state of Colorado I will be there!!
And the rest of the line up is right up my alley too.

Lets keep in touch, I might fly in for the Panic shows, if airfare is still dirt cheap.....
By the way, I just saw that your mom will be with you at Fest. How cool is that!!! Will she be coming to Jolie's party with us?

Very nice Phatpapa I am quite sure 3 nights at Red Rocks will follow. Considering they are the all time running band to ever play at Red Rocks and sell out every single show (32 in a row). Pretty nice list of artists to be considered "KING OF RED ROCKS".

I saw a different press release saying no RR or NYE Panic in Denver. Paraphrasing it said, if you wanted to see them, this was your chance.

I kinda find that hard to believe; but I definatly could pick the phone up and make a call and see for sure. Anyways Fred I have been going to Red Rocks since 99 and haven't missed one single PANIC performance in between. I love the place and yes Red Rocks is right at the top of my list as one of the best venues in the world by far!!

Sounds like we have crossed paths many times--- I saw Panic's Red Rocks shows several years running, with Neville Brothers, Galactic and Leftover Salmon opening.......

Hey Fish, is there any good blues/music bars in Hattiesburg MS? Believe it or not I travel to H'burg 3 or 4 times a year. I "should" be up there the Mon/Tues after JF.

Because of this, they won't play their regular Red Rocks and New Year's shows in Denver. If you want to see Widespread Panic, they're only playing the Mile High Music Festival."
Saw them in '99/'00 which were good years to see them out there, good times.
Leftover > DDBB > WP make for fun afternoons!

Hmmm interesting article. Thanks McGregor I will definitely make a call and see what truth I can get from this. I have been under the impression PANIC was going to play Labor day weekend instead of their normal June and July bill. But who knows these days all I know is I will be in Orange Beach in a few weeks for three nights at the fabulous Wharf..

Yeah there is a pretty good college music scene around these parts. There is also a good blues bar right outside of town a friend of a friend owns. I will get the scoop and a link to the website for ya and shoot it your way Fred.

I have tix for Fri/Sat, but not positive if i'm going yet.
Cool venue though, can't beat laying on the beach and easing a mile or two to a show in the breezy nights.
I may try and ease out for this Fest tho. You can get tix to denver from Gulfport, MS (WTF?) for really cheap. I had no idea until my buddy from mobile pointed it out the other day.

Yea, definately. I might have a place for you to crash
Unfortunately, Mom is leaving Tuesday. She is very excited to be coming as the last time she was in NOLA was in 1956.

Started seeing shows there when I moved out here in 1996.
The whole feel of being at Red Rocks is sorta surreal. The anticipation of the show itself tailgating in the parking lot is so chill and then once inside the venue, especially for a night show is like you're on another planet. A couple of years ago they remodeled the place and put in real bathrooms, a restaurant, and a look back in history with pictures of previous concerts/acts. Much better now.
My plan is to attend Easter sunrise service for the first time in a couple of weeks. Should be something to remember if the weather holds.

Yea, that Fest is a bike ride away in Commerce City, but I'm back East for most of the summer.
Lodo Fest? In past years they even had Boozoo Chavis, Beau Jocque, James Brown
Red Rocks? honestly can't remember my first show, probably late 70s or early 80s, but had the pleasure of seeing mucho shows there, Blues Bros, Reggae fest starring King Sunny Ade, and by far the best, STEVIE RAY.... he didn't just copy Hendrix, he channeled him... definitely felt Jimi's presence...

I'll be at Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY that weekend, near Ithaca.
Starting to like this fest almost as much as JF.... ALL NITE Keith Frank dance among other stuff... first time I went, had to prove a point & danced till dawn, was sick as a dog for a week. Now I give up about 3AM or so....
