Like a lot of old farts/folks over 40 . . . I've ignored MySpace. Is it worth investigating if you're not into the latest boy band?? or a online stalker?? ;)

I say yeah, a whole lot of us are on there and the best thing is the music -- almost all of our fave NOLA acts are on there and they send out bulletins about concerts, new releases, etc.

I had already joined the threadhead group before I went looking for you guys in the Fest's myspace. Unfortunately I just haven't spent time getting to know the group.

I actually like what myspace offers. I'm connecting with new and old friends, getting to know about lots of new things, and I love checking out the music scene. I now have quick access to touring schedules, releases, etc of NOLA musicians. It also gives me a chance to promote what I care about to a larger audience. Myblogspot does that too, but this site gets more traffic.

When I get back in there I'll definitely check out the threadhead scene. It would be great to see FestAid being promoted there too.

Amy, mamaroux, everyone....I'll look out for you. :)

Google "MySpace Layouts" or "MySpace Slideshows" etc, and you will find a gazillion sites and options (with instructions). For music, search around MySpace for musical act's sites, find the tune you like on one of their players and click the "add" link beside it. It will appear on your site.

I used http://www.slide.com/ for my slide show -- it was ridiculously easy -- the only hard part was choosing what pictures I wanted to show.

Okay, I've got up my profile set up . . . and now I'm working on customizing it (as I jsut can't be "normal") - I've applied a nice background but I can't change the color of hte text in the Interests/Books/Television/Movies sections!

I've used the usual HITML code to change colors and that doesn't seem to work at all . . . any of you more experienced MySpacers have any suggestions??
