Hey y'all....just spoke w/ hotel, made rezzies for myself for first weekend (don't arrive at Hotel LeM till day of Patry) at Hotel LeCirque, near Ogden Museum of Art for $89 a night.
You must mention Ponderosa Stomp (else you get $209 room rate), can't do online must call 1-888-211-3447.
Of course they have limited rooms at that rate, all you need to do is reserve, with a c/card, it is NOT prepay only holding the rezzie. You have till April 25 at noon to cancel your rezzie.
It's a lil contemporary modern boutique hotel right on that circle (sorry can remember it's name..Jefferson maybe) near the Mau Mau bar. I actually wandered in there one day in '05 when I was walking my legs into stumps going to those museums. All I wanted was ice water and a loo, and the front desk staff were very nice to me even though I wasn't a guest. Cheers...gotta go make din!!

Mz J: Le Cirque is the old YMCA on Le Circle. It is now an upscale boutique hotel. When you make your reservations, ask for a room that is NOT facing the circle. They have a neat changing light display made up of the hotel's facade that, I have heard, people have been complaining of keeping them up at night! ....The lights spelled out "Go Saints" during the playoffs..

Over on the mau mau discussion bored...the knights are promising to rock your A$$es off!! They say there will be re-entry, you will be able to bring cameras, and there'll be two stages of music and groovin'.
Yeah, no doubt it ain't rocknbowl...but change happens...you just gotta roll with it...it won't be the same...but hey laddies and lassies...open yourselves up for the possibility of a grand time...I know I'll be havin' one... so come join us for a kickin' good time!!

I don't think there's anywhere in NOLa that's "listening only". At least, I've never been there. Be sure to wear you dancin' shoes. It'll be a raucous good time!
Yes, there's beer... and any other drinks you want. It's NOLa!
The website says it ends at 2am, I think, but... who knows? You might get to see the sun come up! :D

Hey Trads...welcome aboard the Stompin train..wooowoooo (oh sorry, been playing on the floor w/ my grandson)!!
I've been hooked ever since my first Stomp, it's a wonderful celebration of roots music, rockabilly, muscianship, and fun (swamp rock, surf rock, country...it's just so hard to categorize...ya just gotta experience it). Egos are generally left at the door, muscians sit in w/ each other, let their hair down, dance in the crowd and seem very pleased to be invited.
They are not big name acts, some of them may have national hits, but they are the regional performers and innovators in their own right.
The group that sponsors this event, are local NOLA music buffs (and some serious partiers i must say) who have created a great way to bring these people out and get them onstage again.
In my humble opinion, this event is not put together for money, ego, fame.....it's put together for the love of music in it's many iterations.
People as if there is reentry allowed...i ask...why the hell do you want to miss any of this...it's only 8 hours this year...i'll be there all night!
When asked, I usually characterize the performers as 'the roots of roots'. Will be interesting to see how this plays at House of Rules. RIP Stomp at Rock N Bowl.

yep - their entire stay. you should call the number, specifically ask for le cirque hotel, tell them the dates and as they were looking it up i said that i was supposed to mention the arranged group rate for the ponderosa stomp,. the girl i talked to on the phone didn't know - but was super polite and asked if she could put me on hold to look up the info - she did -and voila !! I think it's a pretty good deal, no matter what ...it is a newly done hotel, it's won design awards, and it is less than 100 a night during jazz fest? I mean - amazing...... that's all I can say.
