Halle-freakin-lujah!!! I am so tired of cold! Hooray sunshine! Hooray for not shocking myself on every doorknob, car door, and unfortunate person I touch! Hooray for non-staticky hair! Hooray short sleeves! Hooray shorts...well, okay maybe not shorts until I get a tan on my pasty white legs but I'm sure you get my drift.

Of course, I'll probably be complaining about the heat by June but I'll try to hold off until at least August.

Yes, pink ones and white ones in my yard! Also two white crocuses have bloomed and all the dogwood trees and what are those trees with the purple blooms on them? Those are blooming, too. I don't even wanna get into the wisteria up here. In a few weeks Tuscaloosa turns totally lavender with those things. They're everywhere! :)

Pink and white azaleas blooming here for a few weeks. I always have to resist the temptation to plant veggies now because no matter who I recruit to care for my garden while I'm at JazzFest I come home to a dead garden...

I developed allergies a couple of years ago. I was at JazzFest, eyes burning and watering. I thought it was due to the dust and grass at the fairgrounds and the fact I wear contacts. I removed my contacts but the problem didn't go away. My friend said, "You have allergies! Here's a Claritan." I took the Claritan and the symptoms went away.

I like to take a more natural approach to medicine so I found this great herbal tincture that works extremely well for pollen allergies. If I take a half an eye dropper per day all year I'm fine when allergy season rolls around (so far no problems this year - the acacias bloom in January.) If I run out and don't take it for a couple of weeks I can get into serious problems, but a higher dose takes care of it right away.

It's called Ambrosia and it can be mail ordered here:

http://www.fiveflavorsherbs.com/tinctures/

There is evidence that rising temperatures are causing the pollen count to go up so people, particularly women over 40 (like me,) are developing allergies at this point in their lives.

I hope this is able to help some of you as much as it helps me!

Happy Happy Spring everyone - I've been digging it for a few weeks now here in Atlanta. First the daffodils, then the cherry and pear trees bloomed last week, now the azaelas are starting to pop out. In another week or so - the dogwoods. It's an amazingly magical time in Atlanta - everyone plants tons of flowering trees and shrubs down here, so when you drive around in the spring it is overwhelmingly beautiful.

Plus my camelias bloomed really late this year -so they are all still covered with flowers too.

Top it all off with daylight savings time and I'm blissing out!

Yeh U Rite Neen. Me and the boys were sitting around the Yacht Club one Saturday a couple of weeks ago discussing how Spring was our favorite time of year. Fall is real nice after a hot, southern Summer but the wimmins don't look as good in the Fall as they do in the Spring. The flowers are nice to. Since losing so much weight, the allergies don't bother me as much.

Happy Spring for us here in the North.... Were all ready for some warmth!
Can we ease into it please.... It's always hot here in L.A.

Happy Fall for those of you down under.... A cool down is upon you!

15 years ago today I arrived in Australia for a grand adventure. The first day of your Fall.
Friends and I spent 2 weeks Mountain Biking in South Australia & on Kangaroo Island.
My first experience with the flip/flop of seasons.

So let's all enjoy the change! The world is a mighty interesting place.

Orange/Citrus Blossoms are in full bloom and so heavenly to smell. I roast coffee beans in my backyard and I kept thinking, this roast smells like jasmine, finally realized it was the Citrus Blooms. The last 2 weekends have been perfect & smells like orange blossom perfume every time I am outside. Azaleas in my yard are petering out, but I do have pineapples emerging :) It will soon be horribly hot & humid, summers are hell.

Exactly. What I'm talking about are TREES.

Redbuds, if it's just the little red/purple bud-shaped blooms and no leaves on dark, almost black limbs. Crabapples have proper flower-shaped blooms.

Our spirea and wisteria is taking over and the azaleas and camellias are gorgeous right now.

I just love wisteria. Such a beautiful vine, with those huge falls of grape-like blooms, and the smell is just heavenly. I've thought about planting some, but wasn't sure if it harms trees?

It has completely taken over a huge tree in our backyard and we whack large chunks down every year. I thought I had solved the problem by planting my white one smack in the middle of the front yard with nothing even close to it. NOT! It sent tendrils up and out and latched onto the bottom (at least 10' or more off the ground) limbs of the oak in the next door neighbors yard. It's also purple after the years of being pollinated by the vine that ate Jackson in the backyard. You have to really, really, really love the stuff to grow it.

I had 2 dogwoods in the back, but the drought a couple of years ago got one of them. This is the first year since then that they've been so prolific in natural settings too. My studio is on the Natchez Trace so I get to see the stuff growing wild on a daily basis, both on the way into the studio and because our working deck backs up to one of the turn-offs. Beautiful setting.

YYR VW, last winter was crazy! We had a lot more snow on the ground still this time last year. Flew out to Fest in a blizzard, we were still getting snow in June!

On another topic, lilacs are my fave. They won't bloom here for awhile (maybe May?)
