I've been going to 'fest so long I rarely look at the tickets link in the nojazzfest site...and to my surprise when I was showing it to someone else there wasn't a mention of the brass pass option or the overpass - both of which are available. This is somewhat disappointing....so - here it is.

In addition to the regular tix and the big chief experience - both of which are excellent options...there are two other options available from the local radio station in new orleans known as WWOZ. Their general website is located here (http://www.wwoz.org)

One is the brass pass - this is a brass ticket that allows one entry and exit into each day of the NOJHF. Regular tickets allow you to enter once and if you have to leave and come back you need to buy another ticket. With the brass pass you can come and go.....(not that many of us leave - but if you're with a group or have kids- this can be really key)......

It is a premium given to you if you donate at the level of $350.00 and above. it gets you a few other bonuses such as a cd, bumper sticker and fleece etc. but it also gets you in to the hospitality tent that has two cleaner porta potties, fruit, mango freeze and iced coffee ...as well as a tables and shade.

The overpass is a bit more complicated and allows you to share among more users (not on the same day) and is intended for corporate situations (I think).

More info can be found on the WWOZ brass pass page (https://secure.ga3.org/03/Holiday_memb_06)

I like this option because I am supporting the fest, supporting a radio station and a portion of my donation is tax deductible (for those of you who need more incentive)

If nothing else, this post will get you to WWOZ and you can listen to their live broadcast......right?

It's not on the JF tix site because it's a fundraiser for WWOZ. It's a wonderful cause. The hospitality tent also has free internet access and spring water and some great olives. No mango freeze since 2005.

If I'm in NOLA, can I just go over to WWOZ and get one?

Yes, if you call Robin in the membership office during regular business hours I believe they will be happy to get you your pass. It will take a few days because it is engraved with your name on it (this is so there is no cheatin' you've got to show your ID with your brass pass to get into the festival). Use the main number on their website ...

For people coming from out of town or locals who don't want to pick it up now (because it may get lost....and there is no replacement if I remember correctly)....they have pick up at the whole foods the week before (maybe two weeks before I can't remember what it was last year) up until the fest begins - then you have to pick it up once the fest begins.

But if you're asking can you make this decision later when you get to New Orleans? I don't think so - but their membership office would be in a much better position to answer that question and I wouldn't want to give out bad info....

I'm really glad you are considering this option - and yes, ibjamn -you are right about why it wasn't posted on the NOJHF page - but why not partner up and support both causes? (BTW - I love that username)

Bluesy, in the past people have been able to pick up brass passes from the studio when they come in for fest. Order ahead, though.

Better order right now! I ordered last week and they told me the passes themselves wouldn't be in until March or later....

OK, thanks.

I won't be in town until the morning of the first day of fest.

In February, I donated $350 to OZ in return for a brass pass. I have yet to hear from them. (I guess I was expecting something more proactive??? Maybe a thank you.) Anyway, I emailed them once and received no response and assumed it was because they were busy with Mardi Gras/Spring Fund Drive.

Any suggestions? I don't want to assume anything.

mwgoho, did you receive an email confirmation from 'OZ? If you're not feeling at ease, why don't you pick up the phone and give them a call? It's always better to be certain.

Hey MWGirl, just email (robin at wwoz.org) or call & ask for Robin. She's very helpful and can check on your donation. They don't mail out BP's tho, you have to pick it up or give them a credit card # and they'll FedEx it.

They had a pick-up table at the Whole Foods in Metairie last weekend where you could get your pass. But as others have mentioned, just call or email Robin at WWOZ and she will take care of you.

No, I don't believe I did and I was trying to be patient, especially after emailing them in late February. I'll email Robin and make myself feel better.

Thank you everyone for your assistance! Threadheads rock!
