I am pretty sure I am going to kickoff JazzFest with this, normally I don't do night shows my first night in so I can make Friday my full day at the Fairgrounds, but this seems like a lot of fun, especially since I haven't seen the Wild Magnolias in a couple years and I can walk there from my hotel. I have never been to a CD release party at Jazzf Fest, is it pretty much a standard show with the focus being on the new material or is there a lot of pomp and circumstance, either way is fine with me, just curious.
CD releases I have been to are fairly standard shows. Emphasis on new material; maybe some special guests, especially if they played on the album; CD's for sale, often with a chance to get 'em signed.

I'd hope he does fortuneteller -- I saw him sing it two years ago with someone (dumpstaphunk?)-- and it was one of the best vocal performances I have ever seen -- so much feeling. Then again -- as far as the Neville Brothers -- I prefer Cyril to Aaron any day.

cool, thanks for letting me know. Do you know if June Yamagishi still sits in with the Wild Magnolias, I know he used to be a member years ago, but then I know he was playing with Papa Grows Funk, is he still with the WM's or exclusively PGF?

I'll second that emotion - Cyril is badass. Seeing him sing the old Meters song "No More Okey Doke" with Dumpstaphunk last year was a definite highlight for me!

I think I remember seeing June on stage with the Mags at fest.

I'm enjoying this new CD, and I'm playing cuts on the show.

It will be on threadheads.org & threadheadraffle.org, once it's ready to go, and I'm sure announced on this board (and my blog) too.
Note to self - get started on the raffle web page.
