Chaz Fest is on again this year, staged and produced once again by Alex McMurray and his lovely wife Kourtney Keller. Excellent new poster by Kourtney!

Nice looking graphic. Nice to have its own site. But nowhere did I find the date of the event. Might be important info to have on there?

It's April 29 (Wed.)
The date is in the actual name of the page, it runs across the blue strip at the very top of one's screen in Firefox. But of course, you're correct it should be more prominent in the actual text of the pages! I'll let them know.

I guess there just won't be anything to do on Wednesday between.
Hoping to be on the Northshore Wed.

How much does Chazfest normally cost? I've wanted to go for the last couple of years, but I've always opted for Marcia on the Square instead.

Everyone I know who has been to Chazfest has loved it, so I think I might take the plunge this time.

A little trivia: Kourtney also did the cover for Alex's new soon-to-be released T'head Records project.

I believe it has been/will be $20, but I'm sure the official word will come down from someone somewhere soon.

I would definitely suggest taking the plunge; it is a real DIY New Orleans neighborhood event, not a "New Orleans" branded event, yet it is accessible to anyone.

I went to Chazfest last year and the cost was minimal and it was great local fun, like a big backyard party, drink and food prices were cool.
I left there about 6 or so and for some reason decided to walk back to see Marcia,so it was a good day and you can easily mix the 2.

One of the reasons Ingrid switched her party to Thursday last year was supposedly to avoid competing with ChazFest. This year, they are both back to Wed. Tough choices.

The Joint is doing the food for Chaz....hmmmm.... they make some killer barbeque....

Yeah, scheduling was easier when there was no Jazzfest on Thursday.

I wonder when someone will have the guts to try some Jazz Fest programming the competes on a Jazz Fest day. At $50 a pop, I don't think too many of the locals at ChazFest will also go to Jazz Fest, unless of course they have a gig, but it would limit the visitor draw.

Interesting. My friends and I always lament the fact that New Orleans has such great cuisine but such mediocre barbecue.

Before I got a smoker and started making my own 'cue, I did enjoy Ms. Hyster's (is it still open?) on my first and second trips to Nola, but everything else has been such a disappointment that I don't even bother because there's no point in wasting valuable stomach space on mediocrity when there's so much great food to be consumed.

I'll have to try The Joint. Hopefully, it will be...enlightening.

Ms. Hyster's is still open. Good BBQ but I think the Joint is better, IMHO. I like the pulled pork and brisket sammichs at the Joint but I have had better ribs.

Walker's is the best (provides the cochon de lait sammich at fest) BBQ in the city IMAO. But my very favorite is Hillbilly BBQ, which is actually out in Harahan.

5 reasons I'd never miss Chazfest:
1) It is all local musicians - I like that more of my money goes into their pockets
2) A great place to discover young new bands that rarely get gigs during fest
3) The setting is perfect
4) It has a great neighborhood vibe -- much more organic and artsy than Jazzfest
5) HARD LIQOUR!
