View Full Version : Set times of late night shows?

Are set times of shows with multiple bands usually announced before hand? I am specifically thinking of all the nights at the Howlin' Wolf with several bands playing.

The main reason I am asking is Fr. April 24: I am planning to catch both the Dumpstaphunk / Tiny Universe / Robert Walter & Friends show at the Howlin Wolf as well as the Dirty Dozen ft. Booker T / Hill Country Revue show at the Republic. This should be fairly easy since the venues are only a block apart from each other. However, I would also be tempted to see the Funky Meters late-night at the HoB, but that show is supposed to start at 2:00am, and if I can expect the first two events to go as late as the Meters will be on, I will have a hard time committing to buying the expensive Meters ticket, especially without knowing which band(s) I might be missing at the other two shows.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I think you might be able to call the clubs and get a tentative order of who and when. Then add about an hour. :)

They usually do announce set times, but those announcements are more of a rule of thumb than an actual agenda. Some of us are pretty good at guessing these things though. I'd bet that the Meters show and the Howlin' Wolf show will certainly conflict -- I'd also bet that the Republic adds another band.

Thanks for the insight. I guess I will not get a Meters ticket then, and if at all will try and get in without pre-purchasing if I feel like I had enough at the first two venues.

Too bad really, since I am also leaning towards Frequinox over the Meters the next night (and I assume the same conflict will apply, even though that show is scheduled two hours earlier than the Meters one at the HoB), meaning I won't get to see the Meters at all :(

very true indeed. and the worst part about it is that i am so spoiled by jam cruise, where the next venue is just a couple of stairs away. and it is horribly bad there already as well, i don't know how i will survive jazz fest ;)

Is it just the Bayou Rendezvous? or doesn't Howlin' Wolf publish band set times before all their allstar shows?

I wouldn't buy a ticket to late night HOB if I was going to be in that neighborhood that night....although the FM are hard to pass up. If you really want to go see George Jr., Ian, Art and Russell just make a committment to hop in a cab and go over there at a certain time NO MATTER WHAT.

Although I've found that making a committment as to what one is doing night time at JazzFest is ALWAYS subject to change ;)

One thing I know I'm doing fo' sho' is I'm having some crawfish etoufette at Jacques I'mos.....
