Well, about 15 or so THs met up at Tangie's apt. NOLA grilled sausage,
chicken, hamburgers & hot dogs & it was raining like a son-of-a-bitch.
We all walked over to the parade and had a BLAST!! It rained the whole
time!! We caught tons of beads, got lots of kisses, flowers and
cabbages. It was a thoroughly wet, thoroughly good time. Back to Tangie's
after the parade for more dinks and chat. Happy to be warm & dry at
home now & in dry clothes, but I don't think it could have been more
fun! :)

I'm sorry I missed it. I'm assuming Super Sunday will be canceled tomorrow; the Indians can't get their suits wet.
Are there alternatives for the concert at the Park tomorrow, if the rain continues?

We were so sorry that you couldn't make it Dag.....
The forecast doesn't look good for tomorrow.....
We weren't sure if there are alternate plans for the park. we all assume that it is outdoors...maybe Chris will chime in here...

Yep r*#n or shine is the word I got this AM when I spoke to a person from City Park, so the NOLA weather gods owe my guests at least one good day of sunshine.
On a brighter note, I believe a fun time was had by all. We caught enough to make a boiled dinner but it will be HEAVY on the cabbage as there were not many of the other veggies being tossed until the end.

I know Super Sunday is usually the Sunday before St. Joseph's day, but I believe that it is next Sunday for some reason. Glad to know a good time was had today, but I had to forego the festivities today. We will see what tomorrow brings (today actually!).

LOL!!! There was actually a wormy kind of phenomenon. Some of the ramen packets broke open and were "reconstituted" by the rain, so there were long, stringy, noodly things on the ground.

Leave it to Threadheads to find sunshine on a r#$@y day. Nice booty! Love the Irish Spring soap!
I just returned from the Joisey City's. The parade has gotten smaller over the years but it's worth going to cheer my friends on that march and to see old faces that have moved down the shore. There are also a couple of good bars left including the Astor and Jack Miller's near the square. I wished I could have stayed longer but the beer was tasting too good and I want to be sharp for manana.

The Single Men have rescheduled their second line for March 29, and the Mardi Gras Indians plan to parade next Sunday, March 22, NOPD said.

To explain what happened. Ya'll remember when Craig Klein sent out the thank you notes thanking for contributions to the Nightcrawlers cd? I was chatting with him at City Park last night & said what a nice thing it was & I would like to meet his momma and thank her for raising such a nice boy. We had a fantastic weekend! It was great getting to meet so many THs, and there are so many highlights I don't know where to begin.
Saturday afternoon at tangie's was a great time. Frank was an awesome grill master, Delta is as fun and wonderful as I knew she'd be, and the rest of the TH group are fun, warm, welcoming, and all-around great people to meet and get to know. The rain only added to the good times. Tangie -- did you find the cabbage garden I planted in the front of your house?
Our Saturday evening plans were interrupted by a situation on the home front, but we did manage to get a quick dinner at Fiorella's (yum) before spending the rest of the evening on the phone with neighbors, airlines, teenagers, and parents of our daughter's friends trying to figure out whether or not we needed to fly back on Sunday. Not, thank goodness.
Sunday in the park was a BLAST! Both sets were great but the Traveling Road Show was rockin! Afterwords, we spent a few minutes at dba with tangie, delta, and ann (I'm bad enough with names, it's impossible for me to remember two for everyone), before a great late-night sandwich at 13. Somebody should ask Delta how many miles she and Katy drove around looking for a McDonald's the night before... Oh, and Sunday brunch at Elizabeth's was everything we'd been told it would be.
Monday we met up with some local friends that we've gotten to know over the years and then found ourselves back at dba for Glen David Andrews two-hour first set. The house was full and he had the place jumping.
And, yesterday we managed to squeeze a couple hours of partying at Parasol's before heading over to the airport for an uneventful flight home. It was a beautiful sunshiny day. I'm glad we finally got to meet marignygreg and it was nice to say a final goodbye to a few other THs before leaving town.
All in all, it was a great weekend. I'm glad, glad, glad that we made the trip.

No, but I'll probably join soon. I already have too many things that keep me distracted. I've avoided that one so far.

So funny. They were playing a song called "Don't Smoke Around Susie" who is a friend of Pauls and a friend of mine for 37 years. She is married to jazz bassist, Bill Huntington & I was calling her so she could hear the song! :D

I'm glad, glad, glad that we made the trip.
ooooh, sounds absolutely wondermous wannabe! Good for you!!! :D
