Thanks to you 'heads who turned me on to this guy. Had never heard him live before last night. Boy makes me smile. I'm pleased to say that the Threadhead song, which I requested, had toes tappin and hands clappin at dba. Fine audience response.

Ouch. Jet lag has me up early despite a case of Nola Head--dba/Jacques-Imos/Maple Leaf last night. Not a bad beginning, Vido and George funking it up at the latter.

Amanda Shaw tonight at RNB!

i saw paul for the first time at dba in october. going into it, i knew nothing about him except that he was talked about with such great affection on this board. glen david andrews sat in with the rolling review or whatever they're called, and the show kicked ass. wonderful stuff, and 'exit to mystery street' is now on heavy rotation in the ipod.

so thanks from me too to the threadheads for both the recommendation and supporting the album. i'm looking forward to the 'stew' release.

Stew will be a NOLA standard and will be a heavy Ipod rotation item for most Threadheads.
For those of us who have had the fortune to hear the first mix we can tell you---this is the cd that Chris and the other Threadheads were thinking of when the first idea of financing a cd was brought up.
Put this on your must buy list.

Amy, that was my original plan, but now I have to catch a 2pm flight that day. Bummer.

BTW to all: "Stew" sounded great last night!

hmmmm... I wonder if that was the same night we were there?

I plan on buying multiple copies of "stew" to distribute. Certain friends that I think will talk them up will also get Good Neighbor and Mystery Street. First time in my life I've felt compelled to give away original cds rather than share copies.

it was the wednesday or thursday before voodoo weekend.

and while i'm thinking about it, is threadhead records working with paul's bass player? i don't recall her name, but i thought i heard him mention it from the stage when he opened for gda at tips (watched via interwebs). i loved the one song that she sang during paul's set. something with some girl's name in the title. is that all vague enough?

Mary Lasseigne. The song is "Rebecca's Sunshine" and it rocks!

danke.

i'm listening to it now on her myspace page. love the lyrics and the way she sings them with such bounce. and i love taking mushrooms and blowing chunks, but that's another story. a ray of rebecca sunshine here in my dull teal cold cubicle.

"and she laughed. ha ha ha ha."

Not that I know of. She & Chris could be talking, I guess, but I know we're not taking on any new artists' projects until after fest.

Mary and I have communicated a few times. We will talk with her again after Jazzfest, when we're ready to take on new projects.

My husband, Sister-in-Law, and I were there that night. It was a great show! Did you go to Voodoofest? We went and are going this year, too.

Oh, and I'll definitely be buying any album Mary releases with her band, The Kinky Tuscaderos. I haven't heard of anything definite in the works though...

Paul just made an appearance on WDSU, our local NBC affiliate and he sang C'mon, Be A Threadhead! Very cool! :)
