The Cyril Neville and Friends show sounds like its gonna be one big funky mother!!!

Is the Tips French Quarter location a good venue? It seems like someone mentioned that it was quite small and crowded, but maybe I am thinking of somewhere else.......

These shows are also a raffle prize. The fabulous people at backbeat have donated a pair of tickets to a single show of the winner's choice.

Threadheads support the folks at Backbeat !!!!

There may also be an additional prize in the works from them, nod, wink, buuuurrrppppp. It's a surprise for me too - so as soon as I find out - I'll let the cat outta the bag.....

I think these are all "buy in advance" shows. I bought my Cyril Neville ticket a few weeks ago. I'm really looking forward to the show although I am a bit disappointed that Anders Osborne is no longer on the bill.

Hi Matthew! Tips FQ is not as big as Uptown, but a little larger (I think) than d.b.a. or Blue Nile. DEFINATELY larger than the floor at Maple Leaf.

I already bought a ticket for Galactic on da boat that night. SHOOT (for want of a stronger expletive here) FOMS is setting in big time at this point......

Hey Now Rita---Thats Fest for you; so many great choices......

I am sure that Galactic on the Riverboat will be an amazing time!!!

Thanks for the heads up about Tips FQ. I suppose if I decide to go for the Cyril Neville show, I better get my tickets right away.

Hey Now Matthew. I didn't say (and I should have) that I had a good time at Tips FQ last year with Big Sam's Funky Nation, didn't feel TOOOOO crowded. Dunno where you are staying but sometimes it's all about location location location and Tips FQ is a good location for me. I'm going to Tab's Swampland Jam Sat. first weekend there. I think the grids originally said THAT was the Tab and Cyril show....oh well.....IT'S ALL GOOD AT JAZZFEST. Woohoooooooo!!!!

Yeah, me too, I'm staying just a couple of blocks from Tips FQ.

I'm an old man, and have a hard time making night shows. But I'd be more likely to make the Tips FQ show than something away from the Quarter/Frenchmen.

It took me several years of Festing, but I finally figured out that near Frenchmen Street is the place to be.....so I'm just inside the Quarter at Barracks and Royal. Sweet!

Frenchmen has really blossomed post-Katrina. If there is any two or three block stretch in any city, anywhere, that has better live music on a regular basis, I'd like to hear about it.

We've stayed at the Royal Barracks Guest House for years. This year we're around the corner at the Richelieu. Great location for walking the FQ and Frenchman.

Big Sam' Funky Nation/ Tarace Boulba

at Blue Nile - New Orleans, LA
$15.00

Big Sam's Funky Nation is always fun to see, though I have to say the last couple of times I've seen him there's been much less emphasis on horns. But has anyone checked out Tarace Boulba? Wow. Wow. Check this out:
