If you like to put album art on your Ipod, here's an interesting site. Its sole purpose, besides generating clicks for amazon, seems to be making available a collection of album cover photos that are perfect for supplementing what iTunes can get from the iTunes store.

If you click on an album on a search results page, you go to amazon. But if you click on the little magnifying glass below the album cover, in most cases you get a higher quality image than what you'd find at, say, allmusic.com (which is what i've been using til now).

How do you get the hi-res image into iTunes, for the less savvy peeps like moi?

[Assumption: Windows with IE or Firefox for your web browser]

Once you're on a results page, as an example let's say, Eat A Peach...

http://www.albumart.org/index.php?srchkey=eat+a+peach&itempage=1&newsearch=1&searchindex=Music

Find one of the results that you like and left click on the little magnifying glass below the picture. This brings up a flash page with a (hopefully) higher quality (and likely larger) image.

Right click somewhere on the image and select "Copy" (for IE) or "Copy Image" (for Firefox) from the menu that pops up.

Then move over to iTunes....

In iTunes, find and highlight all of the tracks from the Eat a Peach album. The easiest way to do this is to sort by album, then left click on the first track. Then, while holding down the Shift key, left click on the last track of the album. That should highlight everything in between and now all of the tracks from the album will be highlighted.

Once they're all highlighted, right click on one of them and select "Get Info" from the menu that pops up. A new window will pop up. The title bar should read "Multiple Item Information".

In the new window, right click on the big white box (not the check box) that says Artwork. You'll see the border of the white box change to a fuzzy gray rectangle and a menu will pop up. Select "Paste" and you'll see the image that you copied show up in the white box. The check box next to it will be automatically checked. Select the "OK" button at the bottom of the window. You'll see iTunes update its database and the album art will appear in the cover flow view.

Hope this helps! :D

My challenge is always finding appropriate artwork for live shows.

Yeah, that can be tough. I usually just find a live picture of the band with Google's image search and stick it in iTunes.

Yeah, that can be tough. I usually just find a live picture of the band with Google's image search and stick it in iTunes.

I also use Google images to find the highest quality images to cut and paste into the
"Now Playing" window be it live band photos or the album artwork if it exists.

The higher the quality images the better it is for printing any album cover sleave too.

I use this when making an audio CD of the playlist or album.
Use the itunes CD print function by selecting the CD jewel case insert option.
There are a few print layouts to chose from here.... experiment with it.

It's great and very simple!

This way you have your desired artwork for the digital version on the ipod and
your physical version on an audio CD or mp3 CD too.

Definitely. Especially for really unique or historic venues like Hampton, MSG, Red Rocks and the Gorge.
