Question for Staxson or anyone RE Alex Chilton [Archive] - New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

Got a question for you regarding Memphis music scene.

Today I was painting and caulking to Alex Chilton and wondered if he still is around Memphis these days.

Can't find much online but the Commercial Appeal does have a few articles that indicates he may still be in your neck of the woods after leaving New Orleans.

Just wondering..I would love to catch him making some music somewhere.

strange moment at Ponderosa Stomp after going for a beer (and chatting with Dale Hawkins) and coming back to the downstairs stage to see Alex in the backing band for Brenton Wood - I had to ask the guy next to me if I was seeing things... which is not so strange during Jazzfest! ;)

I have no clue where he is. I thought he had gravitated back to New Orleans. No sightings mentioned around here, although his family is still here (I think).

I thought he left New Orleans after the thing as his house was flooded and such. Maybe he went back to New York..I gotta find out what he is doing. Such good music.

If ya see him again ask him what he is up to. That is way cool..maybe he is back in New Orleans after all. Jenn or any other locals know?

My sources believe that he is indeed in New Orleans. His house was not as badly damaged as others. He was there through K, but he left after due to crime issues. My understanding is that he went to Nashville but then returned to New Orleans.

I believe he was/is living in Treme, just outside the Quarter.

Total thread drift, but the first sentence bugs me for being wrong. Memphis isn't Elvis' hometown.

Not born there but by moving there by 13 and it was Memphis that made him Elvis...he did adopt the city as his own.
