i cannot access any of the threads with large numbers of posts. not from home, not from work. i have always had this issue. home computer is a huge dell xps 4000, using windows internet explorer.

threads i can no longer open includes:
Introduce Yourself
The Other Kind of JF Training - diet & exercise
Crawfishfest 2008
most of the old bar threads (i can open Bar Anticipation which only has 1664 posts)

when i click on one of these threads i get:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

wow, weird. it would be interesting to know if you could sign on with a different handle from the same machines and view those threads. if you can, it's probably a server side issue with your handle/profile. if you can't, then maybe your browser cache is stale/full?

what happens if you sign out and try to view the big threads as a guest?

OOOH, I know this one.

Go to your Browser's Tools, Options, Privacy (if you're on FF), Clear Now, Clear Cache. IE's probably similar. Got no idea on Safari.

Bwahahahaha! I would answer to any or all of the above :D

Unfortunately, I think ya probably need the TH admins to help ya. But it could be related to your browser cache and/or the cookie that the bored places on your machine to watch ya

You could try signing out, then nuking the browser's cache plus the bored cookie (or all of your cookies, if you don't mind having to sign in to all of your websites again) and see if that helps. If it doesn't, you'll definitely need the admins...

Nuking all of your cookies is easier, but way less convenient. Finding the bored cookie depends on your OS and/or browser, but it's called something like:

{user name}@www.nojazzfest[{some number}].txt

i dont find anything about Cache using that path. just settings to block cookies & popups. but i thank you for the effort.

I have never seen that. My only suggestion:

Go here
http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/profile.php?do=editoptions

And change the "Number of posts per page".

See if that helps.

it was not an ID-10-T error.
i do know cause & effect. something changed, i just am not sure what.
the only thing i did was log out and log in, and normally it comes up signed in. so maybe it cleared itself. but sometimes we write it off as AOG and move on. :)

it's the ghost in the machine

no specific idea why that happened, but signing out and back in should have refreshed your profile data in the cookie and/or on the TH bored server. something in there probably got a bit crusty and needed a reset. could have been stale/bad data for the "last read" thread tracking feature or somethin' like that. just a guess though.

glad it's working for ya now :D

Of course, no one thought of the obvious answer---Barb's handle was deliberately blocked from those threads!! Now she is free to spread her sarcasm wherever she goes. Curses...spoiled again.

i figured it out!
you can only access the threads with huge numbers of posts via linear mode.

that's cool. Clearly, the majority of us must read in linear mode and didn't even realize we had a choice.....(read: me :o ).

I'm set on Linear-Newest last so I just read the thread straight down...

It's still a thread. :)
