anyone else going to the Turning Point show tonight?
Damn, I wish. I love Hubert. Have a blast Kev. Please post a report afterwards if you can. Thanks.
That should be fun! See him while you can...

I'm psyched, I have never had the pleasure! Turning a couple of other folks onto him for the first time. Tiny place and there are still tickets available, hard to believe!

Very good show. But, I have to say, it was a bit like seeing an athlete who is past his prime a bit. But, that said, I'm not sure it was his fault. He is playing with a full band, who play by themselves as well. So, while they were there to support Hubert, at times it was like he was just playing rythmn guitar in some elses band, or worse, playing different music then the rest of the band.
He is a lovely guy and it was clear he was enjoying himself and the crowd was thrilled to be able to be in his presence. I just think I would have prefered to see him by himself.
Going back to see Steve Poltz tomorrow evening.

Thanks for the review Kev. He played at one of Levon's Midnight Rambles recently and I'm guessing that would have been a great setting to see him.

I saw John Lee Hooker in his later years and it was basically the same thing -- it was like paying to see John's backup band while the old guy sat on stage and mumbled a few words and every once in a while hit a note on the guitar. :( 'Twas pretty disappointing.
