I have a question about Keen's shoes. I read the stuff about them "feeling" 1/2 size smaller. I usually buy 9 1/2 wide, should I get size 10 to account for the "1/2 size smaller", or 10 1/2 to account for that & the width?

It's depends on the style. For the NewPort, Newport H2, Portola or Monterey I would say definitely start with the 10.

(I'm really a 13 -13 1/2 wide but the size 14s work great for me. But then again, very few manufacturers ever stock 13 1/2 so I must choose whole sizes)

However, I have tried a couple of Keen styles that were too narrow and just not going to work regardless: for example Keen Venice H2.

My wife, who wears an 8 had a harder time then me finding a pair to fit (ok she just doesn't like the NewPort look....which work for everybody) but when she did it was true to size.

Good thing that Zappos is so easy to exchange...just don't expect them to keep things on sale in stock. If you are trying a style that you are unfamilar with that is at 20% off or greater, I'd order two pairs in 10 & 10 1/2 (if the comments warrant it) and then return the pair that doesn't fit.

The comfort of these shoes makes worth them the hassles!
