Thread on Porter Jr website asks if Art Neville had a stroke. Any news? Supposed to see Nevilles on Sat in AC. Hope he is doing well.

I went to the Dr. John/Nevilles show - great show! During Dr. John, I had a friend tell me that he had heard Art had a heart attack over the weekend and
was sent back to New Orleans yesterday. Then I heard some say it was a stroke. I think there's a lot of speculation going on. The Brothers did not say anything about Art being sick or missing. I did talk to the Neville's sound guy and he told me that he was suffering from a bronchial infection and went home today, no stroke or heart attack.

I think I might have spoken to the same guy, Voodoo. Was he a tall guy with dark hair wearing a black shirt on the left of the stage? If so, he told me the same thing.

We all know Art's health has been at issue for the past several years---I can only pray that he will recover quickly from this newest challange.......
I know in the past, Art credited the healing power of music with his restored health and strength. I think tonight, I am gonna throw on some of my favorite grooves, and crank it up for the love of Art Neville!!!
Please keep Art in your thoughts, Matthew

You'd think that if it was a serious problem like a stroke or heart attack, the band would let us know... they are brothers, after all.
Still, your medical info is private for a reason(s), and I can respect that.
On the flip side: the lack of Artie cannot be ignored, no matter what group is playing - funky Meters or Neville Brothers... Come on, it's Poppa Funk, for gosh sakes! Really!!!
While I have no 'right' to know what's wrong with the man, his absence should be noted as a matter of courtesy to the audience. Like they do in the theater, when an understudy fills a role.
...Sigh...
Ya know, Art is 71 this year. I don't know that I'll be working at that age. But I do know I'm darn glad that he's still able to - even if there's an occasional hiccup. I recall last year in Europe he had to leave the tour early. Let's hope this is a brief setback, like that was...
If prayer's your thing, now would be a good time to add Art to your list.
I'll be pullin' for him, and all the brothers.
Peace.

Life is so fragile. The point has been made in this thread, especially with Snooks passing away today. See the legends while you can.

Yes, they did do the Cubby Bear show last night. There was no mention of anything from the Band during the show, although I did leave just before the last song. I was wondering why Art was not joining them on stage. They did have someone fill in on Keys.
Good Karma Art.

I did talk to the Neville's sound guy and he told me that he was suffering from a bronchial infection and went home today, no stroke or heart attack.
I heard the same news from a reliable friend. Art got sick similarly on the Nevs last winter Europe tour. He is sensitive to the cold and they had a few dates in cold climates and a very hectic shedule....so it appears it got the best of him. Word is he is home safe and sound resting and recuperating .....(((((healing vibes for the Big Chief of Neville Nation)))))

Hey Now Deni--- Hoping you would stop in and share what you may have heard.......
I think I am gonna go grab several cold ones, and spend the rest of the night enjoying the soulful sounds of Art Neville and his many musical friends (you can be sure that the blazing interplay that Art, Jerry and Brent shared on 12/31/87 will be cranked(!!!) here soon.....
Get well soon, Art---New Orleans NEEDS you!!!

Matthew sorry I was laying low on the subject as I was hesitant to ask anyone but when the rumours started to fly and with the passing of Snooks I started to genuinely worry. Was so relieved to hear that while ill he is safe at home.
Yes indeed on the 12/31/87. and this is one of my fave You Tube vids ...Jerry interacting with Art and Brian is priceless...
