Not sure about the dates, but it looks like March 12-16. Checking the Offbeat listings it looks like I can sample from Bonerama, The Trio, John Boute, Paul Sanchez, Delbert McClinton/Anders Osborne. Am I missing any must sees I didn't mention? Sunday fais do do at Tips is a must for me, always.

I'll be bringing my 74 year old mama to New Orleans March 21-24. We will ride the street car, stroll the quarter, check out magazine and the garden district, visit congo square, do the frenchmen strut and see John Boutte on Saturday night. AND help ibjamn celebrate her birthday! What else should be at the top of our list? Any museum recommendations? Oh, I forgot my mom has always taken one of those half day bus tours when she visits a new town. maybe i should look into that.

I've never done the cemetery tour. She might enjoy that, particularly on one of the horse and buggies if the weather is nice.
My Mom really enjoyed Mardi Gras World.

Mom and I have been here since Saturday and she is now upstairs napping. I'm having a minute online and wanted yall to know that Mom gets it! We got here Sat. about 3 and went straight to fete francaise on magazine where we saw Feufollet w/ Steve Riley, a Brazilian group, Seguenone Kone, and 101 Runners w/ War Chief Juan and 3 other masked injuns. Then it was on to dba where John Boutte cancelled so we went to dinner at Drago's and then to bon temps roule for Anders. It was packed w/college kids and hot as hell so we left after the 1st set. the band was Anders, Tim Green on sax, Eric Bolivar on drums and a bass player I didn't know. They all sounded great. Also saw Craig Klein in the crowd.
Sunday was walk the quarter, lunch at Fiorellas, dessert at Bacco. Nap and to Frenchmen where we ran into a krewe of THs--Jada, Mightyrad, seefood and tangie. Nickel a dance w/ Ann Savoy at Snug, dinner at snug and then Russ Broussard appeared. He was drumming for Johnny Sansone. He put us on the guest list and we saw an awesome show at snug! It was my first snug show and i have to say I felt like I was in the blues tent as no one stands or dances. Mom was having to sit on her hands to keep from jumping up to dance. As seefood says, the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. AFter the show, all the working folks headed home and mom said what next? So we headed to the maple leaf for Joe krown who was throwing down a major crawfish boil-2 double sacks. Besides all the regular goodies , there were rabbits, pork roasts, chicken that still had their heads and pork chops. My lips were numb from the fire but it was delish. Today was ninth ward, st bernard, city park, mid city and gentilly. tonight -- still thinking. Probably charmaine and then glen david. Or PGF.
Mama gets it!

She is a very cool lady. Between Vicki and Jada, they both have super cool mom's.
Damn KK, I almost went to ML but fell asleep. The Indians and NAD wore me out.

It was funny I almost got up out of my seat when Johnny was antagonizing the crowd but then I noticed he was getting the evil eye from someone from Snug so I decided to play nice. Your momma is a hoot, kk and she definitely would have a great time hanging with Jada's momma...They would outlast many of the younger folks I would be willing to wager.
