Here is the announcement that I'm sure y'all have been waiting for....
<insert drumroll here >
ROSETREFEST III
Where: Rosetree Blown Glass Studio and Gallery
446 Vallette St on da Point....
When: Wednesday April 29 (tween Wednesday)
Time: 12:00 - 5:00 (if it changes, I'll let ya know ;) )
What: For those who have never been, and all of our newbies, this is an informal get-together for Threadheads to relax, eat, drink, and put faces with the names you see on da Bored.
We will be serving DiMartino's Famous Muffalettas (with and without olives), cold, cold Abita beer, mimosas, and whatever we can throw together.
We will also be demonstrating a little bit of glass artistry (or wizardry) and rumor has it that we will be making the bowl that Jerseygirl won in last year's auction.
Come on out and pass a good time with your Threadhead family! Everyone is welcome!

Huh? A Muffaletta without the olives is like cracklins without the pork. Just doesn't exist.
It may be a good salami sandwich but it ain't no muff.

Olives or no olives...if the bread is right, it qualifies.

Couldn't disagree more. Even wikipedia knows that "The olive salad is considered the heart of the sandwich". There is a difference between muffulatta the loaf of bread and the sandwich and that starts with the olive salad.

No problem. Note to self: stop and buy lottery tickets on way to airport. Nah...just kidding. Rosey's work is worth every penny for the quality of his artistry and creative vision that you will enjoy every day in your home. I've looked at lots of glass in many cities and while I like a lot of it, I feel many of the pieces aren't created with much meaning -- they are beautiful mind you, but a large flat bowl in bright orange, let's say, it looks good and would complement my home's decor, but what does it "say". Mark's pieces have stories and feelings and ideas attached to them, and I love that.
We have a lot of willow on creek beds and river banks where I grew up -- and my dad always brought my mom pussy willows in the spring, and so the willows vase really speaks to me.

So the time has come for the announcement....
My surprise donation for the raffle is.....
"Blow Your Own Balls"
This is a first time happening at Rosetree Glass Studio.
2 prizes will be offered (of course)
You supply the air, and we'll supply the glass.
Your friends will be amazed (and a little jealous) as they watch you blow your own (Christmas)balls.
You get to pick your colors and will even get to roll it on the table.
A priceless keepsake and truly unique experience that you will not forget!

Last year, it was such a nice, low-key afternoon at your place.
Of course, MamaRoux made it all extra special for us all, but I know this year will be unique in its own way. Just like your glass work.

Unfortunately I leave on Wednesday morning again this year, so we have to miss both RTF III and POTB I. But seeing this thread again makes me remember a thought I've had the past couple days: Where the hell has Rosie been? I know he's got computer access, because he's leading trivia as usual. But I don't think I've seen him post on the board in about a week or so. Not so unusual for just about anyone else, but it is for the all-time post leader. Where y'at Rosie?

ROSETREFEST III

WOO EFFIN' HOOO, Mark!!!!!!!
It seems like the chat we had with you at this past weekend's Algiers Riverfest put the right energy into the Universe to get you off that dagnab wait list and I'm SO very happy for you and Bren!!
Do you know where your space is going to be? In the squeaky wheel/curtain-lifter section? Or somewhere more optimum?

Sheez, they really relaxed the standards, eh? I guess a space must have opened up when my daughters decided not to sell their spin-art.
Seriously though, congrats Mark. Obviously well-deserved all along.
Sell well.

Mark, I'm thrilled that you got off the wait list, but I'm still pissed that you had to go through it. It never should have happen that way. You should have been in from the start.
But, still . . . Congratulations. Things do turn out right sometimes.

Sometimes when the chains rattle and the wheels squeak what shoulda been goin' around, comes around. I still think Delta had the best read on that situation, but I also think that Rosetree will be exactly where he should be during Fest <and a little grumbling sometimes has a positive effect>.
Happy days, Mark and Brenda! Mr W and I are hoping to make it to RosetreeFest on Wednesday 'tween.

wonderful news about the Fest 2nd weekend residency! good to see that the ball-breaking has ended and the ball-blowing (hey, I didn't start it!) can resume... Now, how to request sesame seed-free muffaletta's for the wife (allergies) and not seem like an free-loading ingrate!
